Chapter 27

  Chapter 27

“My name is Theo. I guess first off, what is the purpose of a group tutorial?” Theo asked.

“That is a multi-layered answer. Firstly, the system provides helpers who work for the system in the tutorial to help guide and train those who have just been integrated into the multiverse. Your planet has undergone numerous transformations and is a valuable resource. Unfortunately, in the past, many gods and organizations have taken control. They exploited the native people, only to be toppled for their actions, causing a lot of unnecessary casualties in the process. The system and other pantheons have established rules and regulations. A faction, God, or nation may choose a person to give their blessing to and be part of that faction. They will conquer the planet in their name, but the natives, in this case, humans, will still retain control over the planet, albeit with the requirement to pay taxes to the respective factions to which they belong. However, the system also acknowledges that many people do not want to fight and wish to live their lives. After completing the tutorial, they are transported to any location that requires assistance, regardless of their background or occupation. Returning to your planet, as it's newly integrated, the system has provided numerous resources to aid in its growth, including dungeons, unique treasures, and a wide variety of items. So if you have an inkling for combat, it is a good opportunity to grow in level faster and get some unique skill books s as well, and unique class and profession skill books for your next evolution, so with that being said the group tutorial is there to help someone to find their path either going back to earth or going to establish planet already” Shalazga said.

“The other question I have is, why is this town so different than the one that was underneath Tim’s control?” Theo asked.

Shalazga was about to answer, then she paused and had a faraway look on her face for a moment.

“The system just gave me insights on some of your capabilities, and to reiterate, all of us who work the tutorials have a contract that binds us not to discuss any of your capabilities after the tutorial is over. With that being said, Mr. Carpenter pissed off the system by trying to turn the system's employees into thralls. As a result of his actions, the system removed many resources, including the library, the church, and other functions and personnel that assisted with the tutorial, from the city he controlled. And also, his punishment did not stop there. From what the system just told me, he put you in his path.” Shalazga smirked.

“That’s all well and good for the next question. What is there to do? I was given knowledge of the surroundings, and it seems nothing higher than level 25,” Theo said

Some dungeons scale to your level, then I would take advantage of the training facilities in the church in a library to learn about the multiverse if I were you,” Shalazga said

Thank you for the advice," Theo said as he got up and started to head out of the office.

“One last thing, you can use the inn as a place to stay for the rest of the tutorial,” Shalazga said

  “Thank you,” Theo Said

As he walked out of the office and the town hall, Theo recalled an inn just a couple of minutes away; he headed in that direction. Theo walked in and saw a person behind the counter. The person, with a dark brown and black complexion, had scales instead of skin. They were dressed in a rough woolen shirt and trousers. Theo had no idea whether they were male or female. Theo used Identify.

  Lizard kin level ?

“How may I help you today, sir?” The Lizard Kin said in a masculine tone

“I like a room to stay in for the rest of the tutorial,” Theo said

“We can accommodate you. Head up to the second floor; your room number is the fourth one on the right,” the bartender said.

As the bartender handed Theo a key.

  “Thank you,” Theo said.

Walking up the stairs, the layout was the same as the inn in the solo tutorial. Theo took care of business, showered, and relaxed a bit in his room. When evening rolled around, he went downstairs to get a meal. Sitting at the bar while Theo was eating, he overheard a conversation between three individuals: two women, one blonde and the other with black hair, and one man.

“I heard that Darrell started screaming for his master, that he could no longer feel his presence and fell to the floor,” the blonde-haired woman said.

“That makes five,” the man said.

“I heard that a big group of people is going to go to the other towns and check if it’s the same. Then I heard a rumor; if it’s the case, then a big group is going to go to Tim’s settlement to check,” The black-haired woman said.

“Well, if the rumors are true, then Tim is dead. Thank God,” the blonde-haired woman said.

“We can only hope that at least part of the nightmare is over. We're still stuck in this hell, though,” the man said.

“What are they doing with the five? The blonde-haired woman asked.

“As far as I know, they’re using one of the houses as a makeshift prison. I heard that people are going to talk to some of the system helpers and go to the library to see if they can help them or find a better way to imprison them, the man said

“I overheard one such conversation between a guard and someone from Lucy’s group. The guard said someone with a Warden profession would be the best to deal with this.” The black haired woman said

“Well fuck I have a sneaking suspicion that I might be dragged further into this mess, but it also looks like Tim had spies in different towns, so I’m glad I cut his head off.” Theo thought

Theo finished his meal and went upstairs to his room to sleep for the night. Waking up, he decided to go to the library for the day. Most of the books there were on various skills and knowledge related to the multiverse and its different factions. Theo spent the day reading all sorts of tidbits. The next day, he went to one of the training yards.

“How can I help you today, sir?” a man said.

“I’m looking for training with a short sword,” Theo said.

“Good to hear. Come this way,” the man said.

Theo was taken to a courtyard, and it was empty. A man stood at the wall, towering at least 7 feet tall, with broad shoulders and a muscular build. He looked human. Theo used Identify.

  Human level ?

When he spoke, it felt like he was talking through a microphone.

“Well, little man, who did you bring me today?” the mountain of a man said. They both winced.

“Someone who wants to learn how to swing a sword,” the man said.

“Good, good. My name is long, and you probably won’t be able to pronounce it, so call me Ty,” Ty said.

The other man walked off and went back into the building.

“Well, what is your experience wielding a sword?” Ty asked.

“Besides what the system provided, none, and I probably have a lot of bad habits,” Theo said.

“In that case, I must start from the beginning. We'll work on footwork, sword drills, and from there we’ll do some sparring. What is your level in swords?” Ty asked.

Theo looked at his status screen.

“Short Sword Mastery, Common, Novice 8,” Theo said.

“All right, let’s get to it,” Ty said. As Ty promised, Theo was put through his paces of doing foot drills, sword swings, and a swift spar that put him on his ass walking back to the inn at the end of the day.

“Well, I must spend a couple of days actually becoming proficient in how to wield a sword properly,” Theo thought while eating. At the end, he overheard a conversation between the same three.

“It has been confirmed that Tim is dead. The other four cities, including this one, are going to mop up Tim’s city and take everyone they can alive,” the man said.

“I looked it up in the library, and the system helper was right. A warden with a supernatural prison would be the best way to help those people,” the blonde-haired woman said.

“Oh, and how is that?” the black-haired woman said.

“In the book, it talked about how supernatural prisons siphon off karma from gods to keep them weak. Talking to a few other people about it for mortals, especially when it comes to people who have been mind-controlled, can basically separate the mind control somehow. Not entirely sure how,” the blonde-haired woman said.

“Hey, Gehenna, could you help those people?” Theo asked.

“Yes, I can. I haven’t really said anything because you seem like you don’t want to get involved,” Gehenna said.

“I don’t, but it seems like we’re the only ones in this tutorial that can help these people. Can you go more in-depth about how it is possible, though?” Theo asked.
