Chapter 13 - Too Much, Too Soon

Windthrow and I curled up atop the bedroll. I was wrapped in his strong arms, and enjoying the hell out of it.

From elsewhere in the damp room, I heard the drip drop of some ancient leak. Occasionally, there was the sound of a pebble falling, or of some tiny creature (please god not a roach) scuttling about. And the threadbare blankets were useless against the cold dungeon air.

Worse still, we were a room over from where we fought a horrid undead abomination. Essentially, this was its lair. I should be miserable, uncomfortable, even scared. But I was with Windthrow. It was bliss.

I rubbed my palms across his chest, imagining how his firm pectorals flexed when he drew an arrow. Dragging my hands lower to touch his abs. He tensed as I accidently scraped him with my claws; it wasn’t enough to hurt, just a surprise.

“Sorry…wasn’t on purpose…” I whispered. I felt shivers run up the length of Windthrow’s body.

His heart was beating like a carpenter’s hammer. My breasts were pressed against him so tightly I almost mistook his heartbeat as my own.

I pushed my face into the crook of his neck. Windthrow scent was like fresh brewed chamomile tea, with a hint of musky sweat. A strong masculine fragrance that I wanted to rub all over my body.

In a daze, I kept feeling him. His long elven ears, his smooth hair, his large powerful hands. Windthrow’s breath quickened as I desperately explored his body.

Windthrow decided to return the favor and started stroking my long black hair. All the way down to the top of my butt. His fingers brushed against the space at the top of my tail. I suppressed a moan. Why did being touched there feel so good!?

Next, he massaged my horns. Then he traced his finger slowly up the scales that ran the length of my body. He rubbed the soft scales on my thighs; I curled into his chest, purring like a cat. My tail was starting to whip around under the blanket, he caught it and massaged the sensitive tip. Again he discovered an erogenous zone that I didn’t know existed.

We enjoyed each other. Warmed each other in this cold awful place. I think he might like me.

I opened my eyes, finally noticing how close we were and how soft his lips looked. He must have sensed the same thing. He placed his hand at the back of my head to pull me into a kiss. My hands were shaking, and I was panting heavily. I let myself be pulled, until I felt his warm breath on my face.

Then I felt something hard poking me in the upper thigh. I’m not some clueless maiden, but it took me a moment to realize what it was. Only one thing could pulse like that…

I scrambled off the bedroll. Too much, too soon. Way way way too much.

“Wait wait, I’m so so sorry!” Windthrow said as he sat up.

“It’s okay! Natural, it’s a natural thing I mean. When a mans…thing. Gets like that,” I said. “You can’t help it, is what I’m trying to say.”

He scooted forward to the edge of the bedroll and reached towards me. My bare body was on the cold stone floor.

“If you’re still comfortable you can come back under the blankets and we can-”

“We can sleep!” I interrupted. “Such a long day!” I faked an exaggerated yawn.

I scooted back under the blankets next to him, this time facing away with hands strictly kept to myself.

“Vylet…maybe we should talk about what just happened?” Windthrow said.

I didn’t know what to say. I blew it, completely. He hated me. First, the "licking him while eating” thing, and now this. What’s wrong with me…besides the obvious.

I pretended to fall asleep; hours later I did fall asleep.

BOOM! The room shook. I was awake. Windthrow and I jumped to our feet, side by side.

The smoke cleared and Cleyre strolled in through the newly cleared passage.

“Good morning! Did you two sleep w-” she paused, and a sly smirk grew on her draconic face. “Ah sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt. Should I give you both some time to…finish up.”

“Cleyre! You could have warned us!” I shouted. “And we were just sleeping together, for warmth! Just for warmth!”

“Cleyre…could you give us a moment?” Windthrow said in a measured tone, he was already gathering our clothes.

We both awkwardly dressed, carefully avoiding eye contact. Damn, I’d really botched it last night.

After Windthrow and I were decent, we met Cleyre in the cage room. She was leaning next to the open “admin” room door. The one that we were supposed to explore today.

“Alright, so last night I ended up exploring the admin room,” Cleyre said as we approached.

  “Cleyre, what the hell!”

“Look, I know it was reckless but the faster we finish up, the faster you can help me move the crystal back to Sapwood,” she said. “Come on, let me show you what I found.”

She led us into the small room. It contained a dark wooden desk and every wall was covered in bookshelves. Each shelf held hundreds of charred books. A skeleton sat in a chair by the desk, still dressed in ragged blue robes.

“Please tell us that you’re not responsible for destroying all these books,” Windthrow said.

“Of course not! I would never! It was like this when I got here.” She reached into her pack and pulled out three thick leather bound volumes.

“I did find these three on the desk, I’ll study them when we get back to Sapwood.”

“Okay, that’s something. What about the skeleton?” I asked.

She rummaged around in the pockets of her robe before pulling out a palm sized silver figurine, depicting a raven.

“This handy little magic item is called a Figurine of Wondrous Power, specifically the Silver Raven,” Cleyre said, then she dropped the figurine back in her pocket. “Now come on, I’ll tell you about it later. Grel and Sally might be waiting for us, and maybe I said that I needed them to help us move the crystal.”

“You were busy while we were trapped huh?” I said as she shooed us back towards the entrance room.

“Yes yes, not as busy as you and Windthrow though!” She winked as we looked away like guilty teenagers.
