Nighttime Scares

Immediately after that, the Imperial Police were spotted out on the streets. Vivian and Dell turned off the living room TV and all the lights to make it seem like everyone was sleeping. However, this did not stop the cops from knocking on the door for some questions.

"Imperial Police. Open the door, please."

  Vivian whispered:

  "Shit, they're here."

"What do we do?" - Dell asked.

"I'm going to open the door..."

  "What?"

"I'm sorry, I don't want to get you in trouble."

Vivian went downstairs, turned on the living room light and opened the door.

  "Good night, ma'am."

"Good night, officers. How can I help you?

  "Do you live here?"

  "That's correct."

"Does anyone else live with you?"

  "My... friend."

  "Is your friend home?"

  "Not right now."

"Very well, can we get your full name?"

  "Vivian Alexandra Rohe."

"Alright, Miss Rohe, that's all we wanted to ask, have a good night."

  "You as well."

Vivian then raced back up to their room:

"Are they gone?" - Dell asked, worried.

"Yeah, I made sure they left before I came back up."

  "What did they want?"

"They asked me if I lived here and if anyone else lived here."

  "What did you say?"

"I told them that yes, I lived here, and that I lived with my 'friend'."

  "Friend?"

"Don't worry, I said friend as a way to avoid any suspicions."

  "Oh, okay."

"So, yeah, they're gone, we're fine."

The real reason Vivian did not specify that she and Delilah were dating was due to the fact that same-sex relationships were ruled illegal by the Emperor, as he considered them to be an insult against Kynera herself.

After that, they laid down in bed and fell asleep. They couldn't sleep for long, though, as in the middle of the night, at around three in the morning, gunshots were heard.

"Viv? What's going on?" - Delilah said, startled.

"I'm not sure. Just... stay calm. I'm here."

Vivian went up to the bedroom window, pulled the curtains aside and looked outside to see the Imperial Police in a shootout with some other people just outside of her view. After she saw that, she turned to Dell and told her what was going on.

  "It's the police."

  "Why are they doing this?"

"I'm not sure, I can only see that they're also getting shot."

The gunshots would go on for another thirty minutes before eventually stopping, and they tried to go back to sleep, but failed. Around one hour later they looked outside and saw ambulances and armored police cars.

"That's... that's so much blood on the road..." - Delilah remarked in shock.

"Yeah... it is... Don't look... it's better if you don't look."

Then, a knock was heard on the door.

I'll go get it, don't worry, Dell.

  Okay.

She went to the door, took a deep breath, and opened it.

  "Greetings, Miss Rohe."

  "Hello, officer."

"We apologize for the scene outside your window, the terrorists attacked an Imperial Police vehicle on patrol last night, and began shooting at us."

"Ah, I see, I was woken up by the sounds of the shooting, and could only see your car."

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."

"All is well. Anything I can do to help?"

"Not as of yet, but we thank you for offering."

  "No problem."

"Well, thanks once more Miss Rohe, and have a good night."

  "You as well."

She closed the door and saw Dell going downstairs.

"You offered to help them!?" - she said, dumbfounded.

"I can explain. I only said that to get them off our asses, okay? I was stressing out and couldn't think of any other way."

"I... what if they do ask for your help?"

"I'll think of something. I should've told you I'd be saying something like this. I'm sorry..."

"Don't worry about it too much, I was just worried that, after all you've said, you'd be working with them."

"No! Why would I? The Government took your parents and killed mine."

"I believe it... I shouldn't have doubted you..."

  "It's okay..."
