CHAPTER 51: FIRST GEAR ACQUISITION (2)

Jimin analyzed a few more pieces of equipment. But he found only E-rank gear here.

Apparently, higher ranked gear were just simply repaired, as the margin was high enough to ignore the repair cost.

That makes sense. Anyone selling D-rank equipment would rather repair the damage first and sell it at full value, instead of accepting heavy losses… Which means opportunities like this only exist at the lower ranks.

His eyes sharpened as he continued browsing through the worn-gear section.

Other customers also moved around him constantly, searching for cheap gear.

Jimin eventually shortlisted a sword and heavy armor with good stats and even lower durability than the gear he chose earlier.

  Which meant more profits.

A quiet thrill ran through his chest.

He quickly calculated the numbers in his head.

Combined with the gear he selected for himself, it would cost him a total of 4.7 million won.

“Damn…” he muttered under his breath.

“Maybe I can make around a million won in profits with just these two.”

The thought alone made his heartbeat quicken slightly.

Jimin immediately gathered the selected items and carried them toward a counter. The line moved slowly.

After a small wait, he finally purchased it all.

Then, the guy at the counter asked, “Do you need the gear in storage cubes?”

  Jimin nodded and said, “Yes.”

Moments later, The clerk placed 5 small bluish metallic cubes on the counter.

They had intricate patterns, glowing lines and a slightly glowing button on each of them.

  Jimin picked them up.

He could fit all five cubes in his palm.

They were basically one-time use spatial storages for single items.

“These are single-use only…” the clerk explained. “These will deactivate after extraction.”

  “Got it.”

Jimin slipped the cubes into his pockets.

Now, it’s time for the second floor.

  He immediately headed upstairs.

  —------

The second floor felt slightly different from the first.

The layout remained elegant, but the atmosphere carried more weight.

And the collection here was more diverse and it was just a bit less crowded.

Jimin surfed through all the gear that interested him.

The D-rank gear were way more expensive, costing around 4 to 10 million won each.

Most of the items here could wipe out a month of savings of most E-rank rifters.

But Jimin knew what he wanted.

After much surfing, something finally caught his attention.

A medallion resting inside a transparent case.

It had intricate patterns and a small, round, purple gem shining at its center.

  —----------------------------------------

  Name: Mindseeker’s Medallion

  Category: Accessory

  Type: Necklace

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

  Rank: D

Description: A polished gem carved with flowing mana circuits that stabilize the wearer's psyche.

  Stats: PSY +4, INT +2

Effect: Reduces psychic energy consumption by 5%

  Durability: 100/100

  —-----------------------------------------

“Woah… I definitely need this,” he muttered.

It costs 4 million won… Way less than other items here… Maybe because it’s an accessory type…

After thinking for a moment, I should buy just this… I don't have any more money left to spare.

“It costs 4 million won…” he muttered quietly.

Jimin had looked up a pill on the internet that boosted physical training efficiency.

It only gave best results when used for the first time, but had heavy diminishing effects with each use.

It was sold here on the 6th floor.

I will just buy the pill later. It’s not the time to fully make use of it anyway… Maybe when I hit a wall.

Without wasting any more time, he quickly purchased the medallion.

He had spent a total of 9.8 million won here.

  Jimin exhaled slowly.

“Tch… I’m broke again,” he muttered.

  He checked his balance.

I only got around 200,000 won right now.

  A helpless smile appeared.

  But it was worth it.

Then, Jimin left the hall immediately and headed to take a bus home.

  —-----

After reaching the orphanage, he greeted a few kids briefly before rushing upstairs.

After entering his room, he locked the door.

  “Finally,” he murmured.

He took out the storage cubes and placed them on the bed.

After pressing the activation buttons, each cube opened with a flash of light.

It looked like his gear appeared out of thin air and Jimin had kept them airborne using telekinesis and had gently placed them on his bed.

The storage cubes fell on the floor like regular cubes of metal, no longer glowing.

Now, it’s time to try the medallion.

He picked it up and placed it around his neck.

A faint sensation spread instantly across his mind.

  Jimin opened his status window.

  —----------------------------------------------------------------

  “Damn…” he muttered.

He immediately lifted all of his gear using telekinesis.

He could instantly sense the slight difference in power.

It really feels way more stable… And it’s easier to lift them as well.

A satisfied grin appeared on his face, “It’s a steal buy.”

Then, he took his potion box out of his inventory as well.

He opened the box and took the potions out one by one and appraised them.

  First, the healing potion.

Then, he checked the mana potion.

  That’s a generous amount. Cool.

  Finally-

  This is good stuff too.

Then, Jimin put the potions back in the box and put it back into his inventory, along with all of his gear, including the medallion.

Can’t let others see right now… I will just hide it under my t-shirt when I go out.

  —---

After freshening up, he went downstairs for dinner.

Mrs. Han looked up from the dining area. “You were late again.”

“Yeah, sorry for that.” Jimin replied. “I was busy preparing. I have Rift training tomorrow.”

Her expression immediately turned serious. “A Rift?”

  “Just a F-rank one.”

She sighed softly, “I know. But still… Be careful. Best of luck”

  “Thanks Mrs. Han... I will.”

Some of the younger kids also gathered around him.

“Hyung, bring back stories about monsters!”

  “Don’t get hurt!”

  “So cool.”

After returning to his room, he repaired all of his gear with low durability, increasing each piece’s durability by at least 30.

After finishing, he meditated for a while and then went to sleep.

But he couldn’t easily fall asleep.

His eyes remained open. Because of excitement.

  Tomorrow’s a big day.
