Chapter 14: The deal

Through the next days of the interrogation, she was practically confined to her room with her pets, though with good meals and water as they moved through the sea . Sometimes a medic would come and check her wounds and those of her pets ; other times, Joy would come and ask more details to write down . She was very invested in her form of fighting, and between conversations, Joy had told her information about the hunter branch of the army...

First, they appeared days ter after the blue panel appeared, and with directions from the commanding officer of the armed forces, they organized the military personnel with useful abilities and combat skills under that branch . Many of them were newly recruited, as many military personnel were unable to transfer to the branch or adapt to it since they had served in completely different training and couldn't adjust. For that reason, many civilians were recruited after passing some simple exams . They didn't have time for much, as they were first deployed to the Washington, D.C. frontline. She, in particur, was a communication officer of the army, but as she moved with the ground forces, she awakened the capability of using magic -maniputing mana to use "spells . " Many people around the world awakened this ability, and through the exchange of information, they concluded that magic comes from the manipution of the new energy "mana , " and spells are cast from the capability to visualize them. Thus , many of the spells being used came from video games , books, and other forms of media . After a bit more, and maintaining Joy's rexed atmosphere at base by letting her py with the three kittens, she discovered why the two swordsmen were so... unprofessional. They were civilians recruited from the front of the Rocky Mountains and were full of themselves for being capable of killing some monsters... she described them as childish... and like that, she continued her journey inside the ship . After some time, she was allowed to wander outside, but she refrained from doing so during the day, as it seemed word of her brutality had spread, and many of the crew looked at her with fear . She didn't pay much mind to it, but she didn't want her titles to increase their fear toward her . If it grew too high, she would end up with enemies because of her Genocide title... *sigh* She should have thought better than to fight that stupid three-headed dragon on the ground and near cities ... As the days continued, she heard from Joy that they were getting near the port of LA . From the comments, it seemed to be a big city that hadn't been too affected by the crisis... Some hours ter, she was transported once again to the interrogation room, and waiting inside was Commander Resse. She once again sat opposite him for this one -on- one talk...

-I will be direct . Your capabilities to fight have been highly evaluated, with some problems of attitude, but we wouldn't care much about it... The armed forces have a proposal for you, Miss Gojira- a deal . We will provide documentation, housing, and resources to you, and in exchange, you will work for us under the hunter branch of the army . Here are the details. *He passes a document across the table, but even before reading the title, Gojira has an answer.*

-No.*The commander stays stunned as he registers the response, a simple and heavy "no" that shatters what he thought would be an easy negotiation.*

-Can I ask why you so firmly oppose the deal? *His eyes twitch with a bit of irritation as he finally sees the arrogant smile on Gojira's face.*

-Work under someone? Please , I'm not some civilian or a weak person ; I have proven my strength, and for my pride, I will not submit to anyone. *At this response, the commander becomes stunned once again... so arrogant and prideful is her answer that he cannot even be mad about it.*

-It's just so we can better work alongside you, Miss Gojira. You aren't submitting to our government ...*She tries to convince Gojira once again, but with her expression, he knows what the answer is... a silent standoff ensues as the general thinks about a way to bring this destructive force under the army's wing... No solution can make her be under an organization, but the hunter branch needs a heavy hitter... they have lost so many already... Under something he wouldn't do in normal times, he takes the deal and, with a pen, crosses a line under the cuse stating Gojira is under the hunter branch's wing . In the end, he adds another concession and passes the contract toward her once again ; this time, Gojira stops to read it, specifically the st part...*

-"Miss Gojira will be contracted as an external person outside the hunter branch and will work ALONGSIDE the US Army. Miss Gojira has the power to review the contract or terminate it if needed..." Pretty good . You are quick to note the problem. I will work alongside you, Commander Resse, in defense of your country, but I will never be subject to a leash in any way ...

-You made it pretty clear, Miss Gojira. As you work and save lives, your security and needs will be secured.

And with that, the two of them sign the contract . A new step in Gojira's life in this world will start as she walks through the deck , taking in the skyline of LA.
