Chapter 19

The insides of the cavern were in complete chaos. Many of the transparent scorpions have died from the raining barrage of exploding apples and the remaining creatures were scattered throughout the rocky ground and were in a semi dazed state.

"Maybe they are sensitive to loud sounds," Greg said, invading their territory and finding the closest target, which was a dying scorpion with white blood and organs leaking wherever it walked.

But when the creature saw the figure of the goblin coming dangerously close it decided to fight. Too bad it was in no condition to fight or even block the sure shot attack from Greg that landed right on its skull, and his claws punctured their way out from the other side.

The scorpion collapsed and Greg quickly harvested the white end core from the creature's nape and downed it in one gulp. His body again glowed and he felt more control of this newfound power.

But Greg did not wait around much and swiftly looked for more of those scattered creatures to deal with before they could regroup and muster up any resistance.

A few hours passed just like that, with one goblin covered in green armor and extended claws chasing down white scorpions triple his size. And the armor was the byproduct of absorbing so many end cores that allowed Greg to control his inner energies to such a scale that he could maintain this appearance for many more hours.

Too bad all the live scorpions have already been dealt with and by the rate at which this cave produces such monsters and how much time they take to grow up and get to their concerning size, many days would have passed by. And Greg did not have time to waste.

He soon approached the end of the scorpions area and where the warm pool of water began, and just a little ahead of him were the cyan trees, and a little above them was the weird monkey ready to launch another apple.

But this time when the baboon threw its exploding projectile Greg was more than prepared. He had already observed and figured out the apple always exploded three seconds after touching a surface from the previous interactions, so Greg just let the red thing come close to him and when it was in grabable distance he used his essence powers again, and instead of making an armor he made a baseball bat.

Before the enraged baboon could summon another throwable projectile Greg connected with the previous apple with his baseball bat and sent it directly back towards the now horrified creature.

Three seconds quickly passed by and when the apple was in close proximity to the escaping monkey it exploded. With a quick BOOM the unending cave quivered and the monkey received the forefront of its own powers and was launched deeper into the woods and then fell into the water.

But somehow it was able to survive the brunt of the power and jumped back on the bark of the massive tree and made its way up top. Greg also saw those stingray like creatures attached to the baboon's back and it later plucked them off its skin with a painful screech.

It was bleeding, battered, and looked a deeper shade of orange because of the wetness. So when it gave Greg a hateful look and retreated away Greg just sighed.

"I will see you soon bud," Greg said and made his way back to Bog and his hiding self.

He soon explained what had happened and what he found out. He also ordered to expand the goblin patrols to cover the whole landmass so they could easily manage any of the creatures spawning in the cave before they could grow up and become a threat.

After making sure everything was in order and helping Fess come up with a name for his newborn daughter Greg departed towards the cyan forest.

His idea was not to let the opportunity pass and deal with the monkey and any other hidden threats before they can build up more. Or… or at the latest explore the other side and see if there was more area ahead or was this the end of this giant cavern.

So after everything was explained and done Greg climbed the walls and stayed above the bubbling pool of water to not get targeted by those stingray creatures and found some footing at the branches of some trees.

Oh, and those flying dinosaur-like creatures he named Ordons did not seem to attack him and their primary source of food was in the water. Maybe creatures like goblins and the orange baboon were too big for them.

Greg shook his head, feeling a little disappointed as they were too quick to catch and test what their end cores might unlock for him, and soon found himself traveling the way the monkey left.

Again he stayed away from the water and because the unique trees growing out of it were so large and close to reach each other, walking between them by just using their branches was quite practical.

Also now that Greg was claiming the cave one area at a time he might as well name the entire place, no? So he thought and finally coined the term.

"Briar. Briar Caves sounds fancy enough."
