“Disciple Ying, your performance in this year’s tournament has been examplary. Your seniors are impressed. Congratulations.”

“Thank you, first leader Wu’ang.” Disciple Ying bowed in thanks.

“it is my honor. Now for why we called you here” Wu’ang turned to his side where Joseph stood watching, at the other ends of the table, stood monk Wang and another monk a woman.

“A recap then, it has come to our attention that in Yulong province, there has been thirteen missing person cases opened over the course of last year till now.” The lady, Asumi began, pointing the corresponding location on the map “The local police is stumped by the cases, no clues, suspects or or links between the victims. For all intents and purposes, the crines look like individual cases, all just coincidentally unsolved.

“But, it is not” Disciple Ying asked.

“No, and that brings us to our person of interest. This man” she slid a mug shot of a pale young man with grey sprinkled in his hair. “Over the course of the last decade, there has been two confirmed cases of increased rate of killed and/or missing persons over a period of time, this would be the third. And in each of this cases there has been confirmed sightings of this man being in or around the city of interest. Twice is coincidence, three times? And something is not right.

Monk Wang, in order to aid disciple Ying in her assimilation picked up from where monk Asumi stopped only after waiting a while “Normally we would wait till the elders are around before we send any team in but our sources have managed to locate the man for now, and so the case has become time sensitive. The plan is to send one third ranked and one second ranked team, roughly eight persons. The objective, evidence gathering. Your teams will shadow the man and find out if we are being paranoid or if he is actually involved in someway. Depending on the situation, scouting and reporting back should take priority.” Wang paused “The man is dangerous, at least fifth tier, are you up for it?”

“I am willing but I have no team.” Disciple Ying replied without hesitation.

“That is good enough” Wang replied

Wu’ang continued “Joseph’s team will go as the second rank team, all statements and reports from the police will be made available to him, he will brief your team on the details later. We will select four of the very best peraons to accompany you on this mission, your focus would be building team strength and compatability amongst them. Don’t be burdened there would be a restructuring of the teams after the mission.” He told her “After the team is assembled, you will brief them on all we have talked about. It goes without saying that you are the leader of this team and will report only to Joseph if you encounter an issue. If there are no questions, go get ready” Wu’ang dismissed her.

Wu’ang watched Ying walk out the door and close behind herself. “how likely is rescue possible in this case?” Wu’ang asked Asumi

“Low to zero, thirteen people in a year, they could be anywhere by now.” She replied

“Are you okay with the odds?” Wu’ang asked Joseph

“We will try our best.” Joseph replied

“Remember rescue is not your priority, I want retreat at the tip of your tongue, if there is no hope do not force it, do you understand?" Wu’ang frowned, worried. "Apprehending them shouldn’t be too hard for the police after we provide them with the necessary evidence.” Wu’ang finished “Good, now let’s discuss teammates, who is best to send with her?"
