11.) Alpha Pack House

  3 days later

"Sis, are you sure this is all you need?" My little brother Kaciel asked, unsure, "Are you sure mom and dad aren't going to mind not being here?"

I took him by the hand and held it in mine.

"It's going to be fine. Did you bring what I asked?" Greenish-blue eyes looked at me worriedly.

Slowly, he let go of my hands and pulled out a small black box from his pocket.

"Kit, what's even in there? I tried to open it, but I couldn't." He confessed.

"Of course, you can't open it. The box is bonded to me; only I can open it." I responded as I tucked the box into the hidden pockets of my dress.

"Did Lilas make it for you?"

  "Yes. Now stop asking questions."

  "But..."

"No, buts Kaciel. Now head back home, you know it's best if you don't linger out here." As soon as those left my mouth, I regretted it. A hurt look crossed onto Kaciel's face. His body tenses, and he clenches his jaw tightly. The veins on his neck looked like they were about to pop.

"I'm sorry, Kaciel. You know that's not what I meant."

  "Do I?"

"I don't want to make any excuses but–"

"You're right. It isn't safe for an omega to linger out here." He spat.

"You know how young Alphas get around young omegas..."

"I know. But Lilas, Aalackai, and you aren't that way. Why can't they be like you guys?"

  "I don't know...Alphas are–"

"You and your friends are the only good ones. I hate Alphas." He said as he ran into my arms. He held me tightly and didn't let go.

"Sis, I love you." He muttered as he let go.

"I love you too," he said, giving me a strange look before he started to look away. "I'll see you at the end of the month." He walked away as he waved. He didn't turn back.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

If I told him his big sister wasn't an alpha, would he hate me, too?

Would he hate me because I lied to him, or because I am a false proof of his image of a true alpha?

If I told him the truth. We could've been in this hellhole together, but even when he told me, I kept my mouth shut. I saw the disappointment in my parents' faces when they heard the news. I saw how society treated him, and I didn't want to be at the receiving end.

  I made him a pariah.

16, and the world around him has not once been kind to him.

An omega being born is an honor, but not when they come from a well-known Alpha household.

If the world knew that House Akkirain produced not one but two omegas...

I don't know what would happen, and I don't want to find out.

I stood on the path that led to my new prison for the next month.

My hands felt clammy. My face scrunched up like it usually did when I wanted to cry.

It's going to be fine. Nothing bad is going to happen.

I clutched the box in my dress pocket hard, as if it were the only lifeline. Slowly, I let go and patted down my dress smoothly.

"Just in case," I whispered to myself.

"What's just in case?" A voice whispered into my other ear.

"Lilas, step back before I bleed you out into next week."

"Does that mean I can be around you..." He asked sheepishly. I turned to look at him, but he wasn't facing me. Instead, he was looking down on the ground as if he were standing on the most beautiful hand-created path.

Ignoring him, I walked past the house's black gate and into the Alpha house. The house was on the smaller side, only 2 stories.

Not enough space to have alone time.

The house gave a cottage look with multiple wild flowers on the lawn, with no grass in sight.

I mentioned wanting a flower lawn to, Lilas, once, and it seems like he remembered.

It smells nice... It has a refreshing scent, kinda like Aalackai.

"Do you like it? I picked it out just for us. I went with a wooden style." I glanced over to him, and he smiled shyly. Looking away, I opened the front door.

I wonder if Aalackai is going to like this place?

As I entered, the door opened into a common space. At the end of the room, there was an open kitchen connected to the dining room.

"So, what do you think? Nothing as you've seen before, right? Apparently, the pack houses are modeled after commoners' houses...Well, the middle class...at least." Lilas informed him as he made his way to the kitchen. He started to open and close the cabinets and look inside the drawers.

Walking past the common room, I head up the stairs.

As I took each step, I began to dread my stay here.

There were four doors in one hallway.

I opened all the doors and found a 3-bedroom and one bathroom.

"Feel free to choose any room you want. They're all the same!" Lilas shouted from downstairs.

Why did he have to shout that? He could've told me face-to-face or when I was downstairs with him.

Actually, no, he should keep his distance, and maybe he knows that too...

Ok, the one closest room to the bathroom seems like a good enough choice.

Stepping into the room, I saw one bed in the middle with not much walking room.

This is smaller than I thought.

Letting out a sigh, I sat in the bed.

... I should've let Kaciel stay a little longer and invited him in. There isn't a rule saying I can't have guests over...

It's too late now. I can't leave the premises or write for him to come visit me. I am stuck here with Lilas until Aalackai gets here.

  I miss Aalackai.

Feeling tired, I lay in bed.

I'll only take a 30-minute nap. Just until he gets here.
