Chapter 29 “Hello Darkness…My Old Friend?”

Walking through the woods in the dead of night, still dragging the HellboarScottEve

“Well, that was interesting,” Scott said, slightly out of breath.

  “Wait… something’s wrong… ahhhh!” Eve

  “Eve

“...I see darkness, wait I see something red, just need a closer look…” Eve

  “EveEvebeast formEve

All of a sudden, a purple portal opened before them, a good twenty feet away, ten feet wide by ten feet tall, and out stepped a slim man with a large, nearly bald head and a light brown goatee, holding a katana in each hand. From behind him, a heavier, shorter, older man with round rose colored glasses that had multiple small lenses attached to them stepped through just before the portal closed adjusting his glasses.

“See, I told you it would work! I just had to work out a few kinks in the calculations, and bam! We have a portal. I mean, wasn’t it beautiful?” Niel

  “Shh Nile

“I’m not in the mood right now… my fr–” Scott began, only to be interrupted by a katana pressed to his throat.

“I said move away from the woman,” Parker repeated, pushing the blade closer.

“Eh', I would listen to him. You know, he is quite good with those swords, and he knows martial arts. You should’ve seen the last group he destroyed. Man, was that a fight!” Nile

“Wait, Par…” Scott tried to speak, as the blade began to draw blood from his throat. He gently set Eve

“Now, I hope this isn’t what I think it was, and you brought her back here to eat her,” Parker said, his gaze unwavering.

At that point, Scott transformed back into his human form, and the blade went straight for his throat. In a quick motion, Scott dodged Parker's blade, stepped forward, disarmed the katana from Parker's hand with his left hand, and rammed his shoulder, shoving him back ten feet until he skidded to a stop, his other katana dug into the ground to slow him down. Regaining his bearings, Parker looked up to see Scott holding his other katana and swinging it around.

“This isn’t a bad weight, and it feels kind of good in the hand, but I’d rather fight hand to hand,” Scott said, tossing the blade aside and motioning for Parker to come at him.

“I like this one,” Parker said, setting his remaining blade down and getting into a fighting position.

Parker ran forward and went in for a kick, faking to Scott’s right side as he repositioned his leg mid-air and brought his hand towards Scott’s face with his left foot following not far behind.

Scott knew this move and countered as he dropped low and swept out Parker's back leg, dropping him onto the ground.

“Oh, I didn’t see that coming,” Nile commented while watching the fight with wide eyes.

Parker rolled back and stood up onto his feet and ran in with a fury of blows as Scott countered every one of them until finally one went through, kicking Scott in the stomach as he stumbled back a few feet spitting up blood.

“Oh, that’s going to hurt in the morning,” Nile continued.

Scott stood up straight, cracked his neck while wiping the blood off his chin with his sleeve and got into a fighting position, waving him on to continue. Blow after blow flew as hands, fists, and legs flew wildly, both getting in a few hits until Scott got him with a big roundhouse kick that threw Parker thirty yards into a tree now keeled over, spitting up blood.

  “Wasn't expecting that,” Nile commented.

Scott walked over slowly and held his hand out as he spoke. “Now let’s stop this meaningless fighting and talk Parker

  “Ha ha, What?” Parker

“See, I thought you were going to mention the fight song from that old fighting game with the lizard and all that, but I was a bit surprised you didn’t,” Scott said, a hint of a smile in his voice.

“Do I know you? Wait, the beard and bald head… No way, is that ScottScott WheatonParker

“The one and only,” Scott replied, a wry smile touching his lips.

“Man, I told you that you had a mean roundhouse,” Parker laughed, still rubbing his side.

“Yeah, I was holding back,” Scott replied, a playful glint in his eye.

“Wait, did I miss something here?” Niel interrupted, walking forward towards the two.

“It’s okay, Dildo Baggins, you don’t remember me? Scott from Brothers and Co.?” he asked.

“Ohhh, Scott from work, now that makes sense. Well, how’s it been?” Niel replied awkwardly. “You know, you had me going with those red eyes for a second there. I thought I was going to have to portal us out,” Nile continued rambling, trying to wrap his head around the whole situation.

  The next moment, Eve

Scott ran to her and spoke, “Stay down for a moment, are you okay?”

“Uh, I think I am,” Eve replied as blue light appeared from behind her wraps near her eye sockets. “I saw something horrible, a massive black dragon with red glowing eyes. Steam released from its scales as water fell from above. Then it roared so loud that it felt like it shook the darkness around it. Also, the roar almost felt as if it was going to make my brain explode.” Eve’s hands started shaking in fear, and the ground began to shake beneath them.

  “Eve

  “I am Nile

“My lady I do apologize for my friend's rudeness, I go by the name Parker

“Heh, you clowns never change,” Scott smiled while helping Eve up.

Parker removed his hand from Nile’s mouth, and Niel continued talking, “As I was saying, the devilishly good looks and master of mahhrah… ruh… gah.”

Midway into talking, Parker covered Nile’s mouth once more.

“Let’s not overwhelm the lady right now; we have plenty of time to catch up tomorrow after a good night’s rest,” Parker interrupted yet again, nodding at Niel and removing his hand slowly.

Nile sighed and then nodded his head back, and once more Nile spoke, “Till tomorrow then. Well Scott is this your village?"

“Kind of, I guess I acquired it from some bandits. So I guess it is.” Scott replied. “ If you want you can find a hut and make yourself at home.”

“Thank you for such fine hospitality, sleeping in the woods has been great but I am ready for a good bed and a solid night's sleep.” Parker confessed.

“You could have let me talk to her.” Nile whispered.

“Her head was hurting, seems like a bad time for a meet and greet.” Parker sighed.

“I guess you're right, well it should be a good day tomorrow.” Nile exclaimed.

The two guys walked to the nearest hut and made camp while Scott walked Eve into her own hut and set her on the bed.

“Now lay down, and I’ll prepare some food,” Scott said.

The next morning, once the sun peeked over the trees, Scott was meditating in mid air while looking at his updated system messages.

Taking the form as a dragon your speed of flight is near flawless. You gain scales of a dragon depending on the type. Fire is nearly nullified in this form and you gain the ability to breathe that type of dragon's breath. Your body also grows much larger and your healing ability is now improved 100 fold. Downside is you can only use this ability once every 28 days.

Scott mused with an excited look on his face.

Parker walked out of the adjacent hut and walked towards Scott, who was still meditating in mid-air. “Morning, looks like you’ve learned some new tricks.”

“Yeah, just a few,” Scott spoke, breaking his meditation and now appearing as if he was standing on air with a smile across his face.

“Wow, now that is pretty cool. You have to teach me that.” Parker pointed at Scott, shaking his head, smiling from ear to ear. “Now can you fly?”

“You mean this?” Scott spoke as he shot off into the sky and flew around before landing a superhero landing with his right fist down along with his right knee into an almost crouching position.

Parker began to clap and spoke, “Bravo, Bravo. Would you care for some morning training?”

“Sure, but I’d like to train all three forms if that’s alright with you?” Scott replied. “Can't use the fourth form for another twenty eight days.”

“Oh, of course, but you realize there are more than three forms in taekwondo right?” Parker asked pacing back and forth before getting into a fighting position.

“That’s not what I meant. It’s better if I show you,” Scott said while transforming into his speed formbeast formhuman form

“Ha, you never cease to amaze me,” Parker replied, “By the way what is your fourth form?”

“Dragon form.” Scott said his smile spanning from ear to ear.

“Interesting, you will have to show me that someday.” Parker said.

"That will be a while." Scott replied.

"Have you found your family since you have been here." Parker inquired.

"Yes and I lost them." Scott replied.

"What do you mean lost them, Like death or you just got lost in the woods." Parker laughed awkwardly.

"Oh getting lost in the woods part, I haven't been able to find my way back to them yet. I have looked far and wide but nothing looks familiar. So I kind of put them on the back burner and decided the best way to find them is to level up and find them in the future." Scott explained.

"Ah, so you were never a boy scout than?" Parker asked.

"I was a cub scout for one season, but we never learned how to navigate the forest." Scott replied.

"You will find them soon enough I am sure." Parker stated.

“Of course, but enough talk, let's dance.” Scott insisted, waving Parker on.

The sparring went on for a few hours. Even Niel sat and watched for a while until he finally joined in to learn a few moves.

Finally, Eve walked out of her hut around noon and sat down on a log, munching on a mushroom she collected on the way back to camp. She continued to watch from the sideline as she used her tremor senseoracle abilities[All Seeing Eye (unique)]

Once the training had finally ended, Scott approached Eve, sweating from head to toe as he dabbed the sweat off his face. “Nice to see you awake and healthy,” Scott said.

“Nice to hear that you are still training.” Eve replied.

Parker and Nile approached and spoke.

“Hello, Eve, I’m Parker, and this is Nile,” Parker interrupted.

“May I say your ears are definitely more beautiful in the sunlight, wait, you’re a… elf? You didn’t tell me she was an elf, Scott. Wow, a real elf,” Nile said, surprised.

“Ah yes, Eve is a real High Elf, Nile,” Scott said sarcastically.

“A High Elf, you say?” Parker said while finally getting a good look at her.

“I’m sitting right here, guys!” Eve responded, a hint of exasperation in her voice. “I’m guessing you haven’t seen a real High Elf before? Wait, you don’t have elves where you come from?” Eve asked.

“Uh, no, only in fairy tales, and man, do I dare say the depicted look of Santa’s elves don’t do you justice, my lady,” Nile declared as he took her hand and kissed her on the knuckles.

“Since that awkward moment is over, hey Eve, could you go into detail of what you saw?” Scott said, trying to steer the conversation back on track.

“Uhhhh… yeahhhhh,” Eve said, pulling back her hand slowly while staring him in the eye with blue flames. “There was a massive black dragon with red eyes whose presence alone brought a lot of heat. On top of that, his attack on your mind is not to be trifled with.” Eve spoke with one arm crossed, her head tilted to the sky, and one finger tapping on her chin.

or what we dragons call . You are not at the level nor state of mind to handle a power such as his,” Amarwrath spoke plainly.

  “?” Scott inquired.

is my younger yet bigger brother, and if he is awake and free, you’re in grave danger. He made himself more powerful rather than using his magic on others or by making the world around him better. He did the opposite. changed the world around him into his own domain in which the environment was made so harsh that even a lesser dragon could die from the domain’s environment. So don’t do anything stupid and fight him or go into his domain until you are ready,” Amarwrath

,” Scott agreed, getting pumped up while jumping back and forth.

“So, I was told that we need to wait to fight Maw

“Ha ha, Wait, who told you this, your fairy godmother?” Parker laughed.

  “To have you know Amarwrath

“Wait, you have a real dragon living inside you?” Parker asked, puzzled.

Scott nodded and spoke. “Eh, long story short, I tried to bind with Amarwrath

“Scott, you never cease to amaze me,” Parker replied, shaking his head.

Eve began to strain herself, using her telepathy to connect all of them to one mind so they could communicate with Amarwrath

  “, and another thing…..” Amarwrath

? Am I saying it right?” Parker asked.

, meet Parker and Niel,” Scott said.

the Powerful,” Nile said, his voice unusually reverent.

  Amarwrath

  Scott said.

  Nile said, oblivious.

Parker continued, trying to make sense of it.

  Amarwrath

Scott interrupted as blood started to pour out of his nose.

Eve stopped the group telepathic chat inside Scott’s head, and Parker began to speak aloud. “Huh, so you do have a second personality. I wonder what he’s like? Or is it a she? Oh, I am curious,” Parker said with his usual cocky, curious tone.

“Yeah, it’s a he, or more or less a beast that only cares about death and destruction, and no, I’m not getting that part of me out. It’s why we are now in the middle of nowhere and not with my family right now,” Scott said in a dark and worried tone.

“Okay, okay, I won’t push it, but maybe someday you can learn to control the beast and work together as one. I’m just saying,” Parker said, offering his input.

“Man, I can’t believe this… heh, to believe you have a real dragon inside of you is just wow, mind blown,” Nile said, making the motion of an explosion coming from his head while trailing off with his voice, going into deep thought.

“Let’s take a break for the day, so I can clear my head a bit,” Scott said.

“Okay, break until dinner? Also, is there a spot where we can set up an anvil so I can work on making some gear?” Parker asked.

“Yeah, go ahead. This place is empty besides us here. You can take whichever you want back there and whatever materials you would need, and if you would like, there is a hut full of weapons in the back you can reforge,” Scott said, pointing at a few huts in the back. "On that note, I am going to head off for a hunt on my own."

"Good luck, hopefully you can bring back some good meat for dinner." Niel stated.

  "Be safe." Eve said.

  "I will try." Scott replied.

A few minutes later, Scott transformed into his beast form

“Oh, you mean the slavers and thieves that held me captive and tortured me on top of taking my eyes and my elven virtue? Scott slaughtered all of them when he was, or should I say not he but the beast was in control,” Eve replied, her voice flat.

“Huh, maybe we don’t want the beast to come out. If I may ask, how many people were in this camp before Scott slaughtered them? Or sorry, I mean the beast?” Parker asked, his tone now subdued.

“I would say a good 100 to 150 people, give or take,” Eve replied.

Parker didn’t say another word and walked to the back of the camp to start setting up and be alone with his thoughts.

"So Eve how do you like being an Elf?" Nile asked.

"let's just sit here and relax for a while in the peace and quiet shall we?" Eve replied.

"I suppose." Nile sighed getting the hint that Eve didn't want to talk before walking off to see what parker was up to.
