To say that Ameliana did not have a good night's sleep after the fiasco of last night would be a massive understatement. Perhaps it could easily be called the worst day of the century. And it had all started so good too. Not only had their event been a resounding success and all they had wanted to achieve, but even lady Velunia herself had shown up to discuss some future cooperation. It was all just so damn near perfect, until it got ruined.
The appearance of the creature, whatever it was in reality- had showed a massive stick in the gears so to speak, derailing the entire playbook from its supposed tracks. And worse yet, the more she thought to the events that ended the gathering, she came to the stark, and downright terrifying reality, that the creature was not a part of some scheme perpetrated by one of their rival families. There were no second awakening entities in the entire elven city, save for the ancient and barely alive historian of course, so to create such a commotion, one would need the genuine article.
And to put a cherry on top on the whole, castle sized issue, the creature bore a startling resemblance to both her and Ivelyana. So much so that one could easily claim it was a blood relative of theirs. Something like the long exiled Nivelyana. And if what the entity had spoken was indeed true- that was precisely the case, though only so far as flesh was concerned. Whatever entity now piloted her youngest daughters- albeit exiled and disowned- body, was clearly something else entirely.
And therein lay the problem. How do you deal with a creature so much stronger than anything you can throw at it, and one that you know nothing about to boot? Add to that the clear fact that it was a ,monster bestowed with intellect, and a clear grudge against you, and the issue becomes all the more problematic. And if that was not enough, it had come to their home, making escape practically impossible. The elves were aware that the season of conflict had began and would last for quite some time, thus leaving their hidden city and its lands was a clear suicide. Not that they could even leave without having their own memories sealed, and that would leave them nothing more than husks. Unlike Nivelyana who had little to no memories regarding the city and whatnot when she had gone through the procedure, Ameliana, her husband and their eldest daughter had spent centuries within the city. The damage to their minds and personalities would be borderline catastrophic.
How then to deal with their problem? The two parents had spent the entirety of the following night brainstorming for solutions, coming up with nothing but temporary measures against their problem. Whatever the entity that now inhabited Nivelyana's body, had clearly gained the girls memories, and that included her sealed ones. And it had clearly deemed it a matter of honour to exact revenge on behalf of its host for the perceived slight against her.
What slight could there be? Ameliana could not understand one bit. She had taught the girl better. Young she might have been, but Ameliana had taught her all the necessary knowledge to at least avoid getting dragged into the games. And she had gone and fallen for one regardless. That, or worse yet, she played it badly and was caught. Honestly, Ameliana always hoped it was the former. Spirits forbid her youngest was just that inept to leave so much evidence behind as she ployed and plotted. The punishment was fair, and that was that. Still, the elven mother of two had reflected on her own shortcomings, ensuring she would not grow heavy with another child for at least another century. Spirits forbid she has another one as dim as the last one and that too falls for a scheme. She could not handle such humiliation twice in a single century. At least Ivelyana was smart and resourceful, if a little wilful and disregarding her peers. Those peers were lacking a lot, so that could at least be forgiven. Ahh, the woes of an elven matriarch being cursed with inept children.
Still, the breakfast was awkward, as all three family members were clearly carrying slight bags under their eyes- clear proof of their current conundrum. it was the first night and non wanted to experience an unfortunate accident. They might not have a way to deal with the entity, but they sure as hell could stall if for a brief moment to escape. At least for the time being.
"Mother, what was that thing?" Ivelyana finally asked, more than just a little worried about last evenings visitor.
"We don't know at the moment. A message was sent to the great archive right after the ball, so if they have anything, we will hear from them as soon as possible."
"And what if they know nothing? I have never heard of such a creature." Ivelyana added nervously. Only she knew just how much guilt for Nivelyana's exile their own family carried.
"Then you wait for what's coming for you like a proper lady. Hi hi hiii." The same, raspy voice caused the heads of the trio to whip towards the far end of the table where the entity sat leisurely, half draped over the chair as though it was some sort of a throne, recently conquered and quite to its liking.
A powerful aura flashed passed the trio, causing their knees to tremble. It was powerful, and malicious to a fault.
"But not yet. Not just yet. Hi, hi, hiiii." it laughed once more, and then it was gone, as though it was never there to begin with, leaving behind only the lingering heavy atmosphere it had created mere moments ago. That and a heavy feeling of dread and nigh inevitable catastrophe that would come for them.
"We have to contact the remaining members of that distant council. I do not think they will refuse cooperation. They stand to lose much as well, if that thing goes after those that were present for that particular trial." finally spoke the father, a grave expression now seemingly constantly plastered on his face.
"Yes. And you might have to be ready to sacrifice as well Ivelyana. This is much bigger than each of us."

"Yes mother. I-I understand." the eldest daughter replied, her head hung low in frustration and with a hint of helplessness in her voice. She was no fool, and understood all too well that she will likely have to settle for a subpar man to enlist some extra needed hands and resources. She was the next in line to inherit her family's reigns.
------------
"Would you look at that." Jack snickered as the duo slipped out of the estate they had spent the night in and had delivered a bit of morning terror to their targets. A sliver of his mind locked and focused on the conversation Nivi's family was holding after their departure. "They seem to be ready to go to the rest of those involved. Good thing we are ahead of them, no?" he looked at Nivi with a light smile on his face. "So, who do we take out first?"
"Elder Mesterion. A sleazy elven lord with a hobby to play with young boys. Never proper elves though. That would be more than just frowned upon." Nivi explained.
"Right. And he can actually satisfy his urges with lesser beings?"
"That's what authorities would have you believe. At least back then before my exile." Nivi replied, though she too did not believe it one bit.
"A bit of karmic justice then, yes?"
"I would hope so?" Nivi hummed. It would be karmic justice for her at the very least.
Thankfully, the ball that the duo had just the day before spoiled was the perfect occasion, drawing in almost all those taking part in her exile and making it easy to mark them to be tracked down later with ease. With the exception of this elder Mesterion, who just so happened to be absent. Luckily, the old bat still lived in the same mansion he did before and was relatively easy to find. And thanks to the chaos and general fear their performance had caused, the likelihood that the perverted elfs friends had warned him was extremely low, though it did rise with each passing day. So here they were, off to take care of the first loose end and to cement the beginnings of their own horror story.
The duo dropped on one of the mansions balconies, successfully avoiding any and all guards that were posted across the property- a simple precaution any scheming nobleman/noblewoman with a depraved past time hobby would have. For someone of Jack's standing and skill it was all too easy to open the balcony door without raising any sort of alarm, allowing the duo to enter the building itself without any additional noise either.
From there, the two sneaked through several, long and richly decorated corridors, each and every one filled with finely crafted pottery, wood carvings and, would you guess that, portraits of children- boys to be exact- of several races. Each with a plaque under it, supposedly all of them had been great students under the aged elf. It was all so very much sus. Very, very much sus. Jack could not call it any other way.
He did not sense a sex dungeon of any sort however. Besides the age and gender of the old elf's targets, nothing else seemed to be out of the order and particularly disgusting, though the aforementioned preference was more than enough for Jack to provide some extra special care for the old elf. It was only right after all. Kids were off limits. Boys even more so. There was a stark difference just what kind of a monster such experience and trauma could create out of a girl, and a boy. Well, at least in the world Jack originally came from. There was an argument to be made that young girls could become even more dangerous in a world filled with magic.
There was, however, a hidden basement within the property. Hidden yes, but nothing like a proper sex dungeon. The basement was equipped with a rather large and decorated bedroom, and a secret tunnel leading towards the less prosperous corner of the city. A bathroom with a rather large bath was built right next to the bedroom, and further still was what seemed to be a waiting room of sorts. It was in that hidden basement their target could be found right now. And the old bastard was not alone either.
Sneaking through the mansion to reach the basement door was not difficult at all- Jack's stealth spell performing to, and above expectations. Likewise, opening the hidden door was not all that difficult either, though Jack had to wait a bit to find a moment that none of the guard patrols were close so the act of opening the basement door would remain unnoticed. The duo did manage to do it in the nd, though they had to wait more than ten minutes for the necessary opportunity.
A rather narrow, winding staircase led them deeper down, eventually delivering Jack and Nivi right to the bathroom that was placed between the waiting room and the bedroom. The bathroom had been used recently, as evidenced by still fresh smell of a rather expensive feeling soap and perfume. Jack sensed something else in the air as well though, causing his face to develop a scowl of disgust.
"Change of plans." he suddenly spoke, looking towards Nivi "This one will get no slow roast. The bastard is also using drugs and aphrodisiacs in his sick games."
He had to say no more, and a second later, Jack stood in front of the door, his leg already in full swing as it connected with the poor door, sending it flying across the bedroom and shattering against the other wall, startling one of the two rooms current occupants.
An old, wrinkled elf almost jumped into the air at the sudden surprise, the satisfied and content smirk wiped off of his face, replaced by a moment or fear and then seething anger. Clearly the old bastard believed that one of his guard mercenaries had drunk too much and suddenly grown some oversized balls that drained all blood from the idiots already admittedly small and incompetent brain.
Unfortunately for him, before he could so much as utter a single word, all air was blasted out of his lungs as a rather slender leg connected with it, a mere moment later plummeting the old bastard across the room- much like the door beforehand. Unlike the door however, this kick was not performed by Jack. Nivi had dashed inside the moment the door was blasted away, and upon noticing the clearly unconscious elven boy laying like a ragdoll further behind the old left, she moved once more, planting herself right in front of the damn relic of an elf and delivering a merciless kick to the bastards chest, sending him flying and smashing into the wall. She might not be strength based fighter, buts her equipment was just good enough to give her the advantage that would allow for such a result.
"Heal the boy, but do not wake him up. What's about to happen should not be witnessed by someone that young." Jack warned as he stepped forward, his eyes locked on the culprit. The old elf was wheezing and coughing as his back was pressed against the wall. Clearly, Nivi's kick had smacked the air out of the bastard.
"Ehhhhhh, huuuuuuu." the bastard wheezed "Do you, ehhhhhh, have any idea, huuuuuuu, ehhhhhhh, what you have done?? huuuu." he raged, all while trying to regain his breath.
"Yea, taking out trash." Jack replied as he stopped right in front of the old elf, and before the bastard managed to say anything else, Jack blasted the bastards jaw with a right hand punch, causing the old elf's head to jerk to the side and take the whole body along as he collapsed to the ground, howling in pain. Jack was holding back just enough not to tear off the jaw with his punch alone. Did not mean it was not extremely painful still. It was Nivi's place to deliver the finishing blow. The bastard was on her list and not Jack's after all.
