A road

Vex woke up first, head swirling around.

His hair was scrambled, he huffed, walking towards a small pool that was located nearby, washing his face and brushing the water along his hair.

Aurelis' eyes fluttered open, his white eyelashes brushing against eachother.

He laid on the fuzzy wool of the tent, turning his head towards the lake.

Vex approached Aurelis, a cheeky grin on his face "Rough night eh?"

He pulled his hand forward, nudging Aurelis "Let's get going!"

Aurelis flipped around, groaning "Can't you pack the stuff yourself?"

Vex rolled his eyes, grabbing a small handbag made of leather "Well, not much, you know."

Aurelis pushed himself up, stretching his hands forward.

His robe flapped in the warm wind as he walked towards the grass.

The horse neighed as they approached the carriage, getting up on the sturdy wooden box.

Vex and Aurelis stepped on the floor of the carriage, sitting themselves on top of two chairs made of wood.

Aurelis sits at the front, controlling the horse as it moves.

They pass by a lot of other carriages, Vex raised an eyebrow, tilting his head towards Aurelis "Say, why is it that their carriages are much different? They have those reinforced windows and fancy wooden carvings.."

He yawned "While ours is just.. a horse attached to a wooden box!"

Aurelis sighed, his hands pressed against his forehead "Simple, merchants need ways to show off goods, without the danger of it being stolen.. that's why they need their windows as durable as possible."

A merchant waved their way, flailing his hands on weapons residing inside his carriage.

Another cooked pastries with his windows open, the smell exuding outwards.

Vex turned to Aurelis, his stomach grumbled "We are almost out of food"

Aurelis snapped his head Vex "Deal with it, we don't have anything to trade."

Vex's eyes wander around Aurelis, his eyebrow twitched "Can't we just.. trade away your robe or something? its summer! what's the point of it anyways?"

Aurelis raised an eyebrow "Since when did you get so mad so easily?"

Vex shook his head "I'm hungry."

Aurelis rubbed his forehead, legs kicking the wooden floor "Fine, we can.. do some chores, for one of the merchants. I bet most of them need random things we can collect anyways."

He flailed his hand around the merchant carriages "It's not too rare for one to get paid for a quick fetch quest."

Vex nodded, abruptly standing up "Now we're talking!"

Aurelis rubbed his eyes, kicking his legs down to stop the horse "We need to create a situation of need. we'll leave the carriage for now, come."

He leaped off the carriage, waving his hand towards Vex

Vex rolled his eyes, a smirk on his face "We're not gonna commit some sort of crime are we now?"

Aurelis flailed his hand around, yawning "Don't worry, nothing that should get us in trouble."

He stretched downwards, his hand grasping on a handful of grass weed.

He twisted his fingers around the grass weeds, their color whitening.

Vex leaned on a tree, his eyes focused on Aurelis' hand.

Aurelis raised his hand, shooting the patch of frozen weed onto the road.

As carriages pass by, their wooden wheels crush the frozen weed to bits, the sound of ice breaking piercing the air.

Horses around the incident raise their legs, neighing louder than the shattered weeds.

Vex quickly grabbed Aurelis by the shoulder, his eyes widened "I-I thought you said it wasn't going to get us in trouble?!"

Aurelis rolled his eyes, pointing onto the road.

Merchants stopped, stooping down from their carriages to check their own glass windows.

One particular merchant, a lizard demi human with scales that shone under the sun, and sharp purple eyes, approached his carriage's window.

The merchant leaned in, his eyes narrowing as he spotted thin, jagged cracks across the glass, glinting in the light.

He turned around, facing the two "Oi boys, do ya'll have anything to do with this?"

Vex gulped, leaning towards Aurelis "See what you did??"

Aurelis shook his head, stepping forward "No, someone's window was completely blown."

He pointed at a random direction on the road "This way."

He walked to the merchant, his lips curled down "But hey, if you worry so much about your window, I can fix it."

He pointed at the merchant's window "But look at it, it might take some time to fix. And, it sure is going to cost you."

The merchant sighed, clasping his hands "Yer not wrong boy.. fine, as long as yer not gonna rob me empty."

Aurelis nodded lifting his hand forward "Here, I'll be generous. Simply give us some food, enough to make it to Greage town."

The merchant laughed, his voice raspy "Haha! I sell food for a living kid, and Greage ain't even far off! you have a deal."

He straightened his hand forward, shaking Aurelis' hand.

Aurelis tilted his head towards Vex, pointing at him "Me and my friend here will fetch some glass, give us thirty minutes and we'll come back to fix your window."

The merchant clasped his hands, raising his head up "Fine, but I ain't waiting forever, I got stuff to sell!"

He walked to his carriage, and Aurelis walked up to Vex "Let's go, we have a job to do."

Vex nodded, a wide smile on his face "Good! But.. where are you going to get glass from?"

Aurelis gestured over to Vex's hand "With your habel.."

Vex blinked twice, tilting his head sideways "How is that going to help?"

Aurelis shrugged, kicking a rock "Force generates heat, as far as I know."

Aurelis continued walking, tilting his head back to Vex "We just need to find some sand.."

Vex sighed, his hands falling down "If you haven't noticed, we are in a plain grassy area! I don't think we are going to find sand here.."

Aurelis wagged his finger "Wrong, can't you hear water flowing?"

He stepped on top of a rock, pointing south.

Aurelis shrugged "Just punch it as hard as you can and hope for the best."

Vex exhaled, his legs wandering around Aurelis "Its not something I can just do, you know.. there is a big cooldown when I use it, even if I fail!"

Aurelis snapped his head back to Vex, raising an eyebrow "Then don't."

Vex shrugged "Fine, I'll try my best!"

They walked towards the river, their shoes scratching the gravel.

Vex stopped on top of a patch of sand, taking in a deep breath.

His hand started to glow yellow, he whispered to himself "Well, the wind is blowing this way and today's temperature is kind of hot and the sand is this far away.."

After a short moment, he swung his hand down.

His hand flew against the air, stopping midway.

Vex bit his lips, his hand lost its glow.

Aurelis tilted his head, mist carried along his breath "What is it?"

Vex slowly turned around, a blank smile on his face "I.. hit a fly."

Aurelis back straightened, eyes open wide "You... what?"

Vex shook his head "The fly got eviscerated, nothing left of it."

Aurelis sighed "Anyways.. I thought of another idea while you failed miserably."

Vex raised an eyebrow, hands pressed against his chest "Another plan huh?"

Aurelis turned around, walking towards the road "Just come."

Their legs scrapedv against the road, carriages of horses passing in front of them.

They made their way back to the lizardman.

The lizardman waved off an adventurer, his eyes widening as he spotted the two "Ah! I see yer back boys, so.. gonna fix the windows?"

Aurelis nodded "Give us a minute or two, and it will be completely fixed."

The merchant skipped towards his carriage, pointing at the window "Make it crystal clear!"

Aurelis walked towards the window, his finger scratching the cracks of the window.

Vex sat on a rock, swinging his feet and bobbing his head.

Aurelis placed his finger on a cracked part of the window, frost seeping out of his finger.

The ice slowly entered the gaps, making its way around the cracks.

Aurelis lifted his finger up, the window shone under the sun.

He gently tapped the window "Lets hope it holds long enough for him not to question anything.."

The merchant got out of the carriage, his eyes wandering around the window.

He whistled, a grin on his face "Ya made yer work kid! A little cold though.."

The merchant shrugged, grabbing a sack of bread from under the carriage.

He chucked the sack towards Aurelis "Here, this should hold ya till Greage and back!"

He exclaimed with a broken laugh, and patted Aurelis on the shoulder "Good luck on yer adventure boy!"

He got back on his carriage, waving Aurelis and Vex goodbye.

Aurelis nodded, walking back to Vex "Yeah, you too."

He waved in front of Vex, snapping his fingers "Stop daydreaming, lets get back to the carriage."

They got inside the carriage, the wood creaking under their legs.

Aurelis leaned on the wooden wall, facing the ceiling "See? now you can stop whining about food."

Vex shoved his face into the bread, snapping a big bite as he talked "Lets just go now! to Greage!"

Aurelis sighed, pulling himself towards the driver's seat.

He kicked the walls of the wooden box, and the horse started moving.

The carriage rattled against the ground, Greage visible in the horizon.
