Ken tried waking the veteran, but he couldn't do it.
“Is he that strong?” he thought about the scarred man.
“I can escape now carrying him, but I can’t leave him behind, can I?” Ken was confused about deciding whether to fight or not.
On the next level,
The scarred man was devastated, seeing Veris. Veris was the first person to acknowledge him when he joined the force.
Veris was a hard-working individual who did anything and everything his chief asked him to do. He doesn’t hesitate, is confident and would face anything to save his friends.
Back when the scarred man joined, he was cold, calm and didn’t speak with a lot of people, but the one who changed his perspective and made him the way he is now was Veris.
He wasn’t this strong back then, but he trained a lot every day. When everyone was tired from accomplishing their mission, he would still train to improve himself. Kael doesn’t like the scarred man that much, but Veris was the connecting point.
Veris was liked by everybody in their force, even the chief loved him more than anyone else. Veris is the one he trusts a lot, not only by the chief, but also by everyone.
After the scarred man trained Veris, he became even more important. Although he is young, he led several fights and doesn’t lose easily.
He bends the truth for the sake of the group and believes that anything that could make them happy was his path, even if it was not the right thing.
To Rheos, Veris was someone whom he admired for several reasons. He already possesses many good qualities that could easily make him a top leader in some other groups.
He listens to everyone’s thoughts before revealing his own, and he even prioritises his friends over himself.
Rheos trained with him before the scarred man joined them, and would still have a good conversation with him here and then.
During his childhood, Veris loved eating cherries. Whenever Rheos was with him, he would buy him those, and eventually it became Rheos’ favourite too.
Veris lost both his parents to an accident and grew up alone. He doesn’t have anyone who would give him love and believe in him.
Rheos was the one who showed him the love that he needed and raised him like his younger brother. Rheos was great at reading the situations, and patience is his strength.

When he was in the forest, Rheos fought against several animals for their food and eventually taught what he learned to Veris.
When Veris grew up, he also became a great thinker, but he didn’t have a lot of physical strength. That’s when the scarred man came in.
Back to prison,
All the men over there couldn’t help but cry, seeing Veris like that.
“Who did this?” the scarred man asked, in an extreme anger tone.
“We don’t know for sure, it might be that commander,” Rheos replied, couldn’t still stand up with his legs shaking, as it also couldn’t believe what was before it either.
“Then it must be him,” the scarred man had made his assumption.
“How could he—” his anger level kept on increasing.
“Rheo, be ready to leave from here soon,” he ordered.
“I am sorry for not saving him, but I would make sure to save you all,” the scarred man promised.
He went forward towards Veris, dropped his own sword near Veris and took Veris’ sword that was lying nearby him.
He holds Veris’ hand and mutters something to him, with tears forcing their way down his face.
No one could hear what he was saying, then the scarred man had one thing to do: to fight Anders.
2 minutes before the scarred man’s promise,
At the ground level,
The veteran finally opened his eyes after Ken tried so many times.
“What happened to you? You said you would never lose, right?” Ken asked, a sigh of happiness when he saw the veteran opening his eyes.
“Ken, I am sorry, thanks for reminding me,” the veteran replied.
He got up, holding his right shoulder as it was the area where he felt the most pain.
“I won’t lose, let’s go for now,” the veteran muttered.
Ken had made up his mind to leave, too, even though he wanted to fight the scarred man.
Both of them began leaving from there.
“Who really is this injured man?” Ken asked, out of curiosity.
“He was known to all as the Chaos Prince,” the veteran revealed.
“Chaos Prince?” Ken doesn’t even know that name.
Just when the veteran was going to reveal everything, Ken felt something.
Anders had been thinking about him for 5 minutes.
Ken had a choice to read his mind, which he happily decided to take. He didn’t know which timing was right, so he began calculating the timing as to when the king or the knight would arrive there to save him.
He gave up on it as he was weak at calculating.
He decided on the time randomly.
Ken started reading Ander’s mind from 7 minutes into the future.
“Why is he following Ken’s orders?” was the first line that Ken heard.
“I am the reason for all these. If only I were stronger, I would have—” Anders’ mind.
“Who is the one fighting at the entrance? Ken is fighting who?” Anders’ mind searched for the answers.
Ken stopped reading.
“What was that!!!” Ken muttered after returning to normal state.
“What happened to you, Ken?” the veteran asked.
“Nothing, we have a lot to do,” Ken replied.
He went near Anders, who was lying there on the wall.
“When will they come?” Ken asked.
“Who?” Anders asked, but he couldn’t speak well due to his injuries.
“King or the knight would be coming here soon, right?” Ken asked.
“How does he know this?” Anders’ thought.
“They should be here soon, why?” he asked.
“Nothing,” Ken replied, and sat down with him.
Ken doesn’t know what to do. All he knew was the place wasn’t going to be the same after 7 minutes.
He began thinking about the things that he learned from Anders’ mind.
“Who am I fighting?” Who… who?” he was thinking about every possibility.
“It must be him, right?” he predicted.
“Who is going to follow my orders?” he began thinking.
“Hiyose Ken, we need to leave,” the veteran gave his thought.
Ken looked up to him and found the answer he was searching for.
He predicted the scenario that would happen in the future.
“Can you follow my order now? Just for this time alone,” Ken asked the veteran.
Ken got up and said, “Save him, I will save you and help you meet your daughter,” to his ears.
The veteran felt something that he hadn’t felt in decades.
Trust, hope, responsibility, he felt it all.
