A week later, Angelo and his mother were on their way to Bern.
The train moved smoothly through pale morning light. Swiss hills drifted past the window. Maria watched the landscape. Angelo watched his own reflection.
Bern.
The interview.
Gert Keller.
At the station, footsteps echoed beneath the glass roof. Announcements blended with the restless flow of travelers.
And there, between kiosks and shops, a familiar logo shone:
Life Without End.
Maria stopped.
"Do you really want to go in there?"
Angelo studied the sign.
"Yes. I want to see what changed. They wouldn't invite me without a reason. Perhaps they want me back." A faint smirk. "I'm curious what their world became without me."
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"Not for long," she said quietly.
They entered.
The interior was modern and bright. Holographic panels displayed new regions, new storylines, new deities.
Angelo walked slowly.
New gods.
New generals.
New mythic classes.
Large screens showed tournament rankings.
Top players of the Pelegon server.
Names he didn't recognize.
Promotional banners labeled:
Legends of the New Era.
"A new era…" he murmured.
His gaze cooled.
"I wonder how many of them understand real power."
Then he saw her.
A central poster.
Silver-violet hair flowing like liquid light.
Eyes glowing softly.
White garments radiating restrained divinity.
Goddess Ehiria.
Angelo let out a quiet laugh.
"So they placed a new puppet on the throne."
He stepped closer.
"After I killed their Supreme God… this is the replacement."
There was no anger in his voice.
Only tired superiority.
"Does it amuse you?" Maria asked carefully.
"A little. History repeats itself."
He approached the counter.
Behind it stood a well-groomed man in his mid-forties. Calm. Observant.
"Sir," Angelo said politely, "could you tell me about this character?"
He gestured toward Ehiria.
The man studied the poster. Then Angelo.
"Are you interested in goddesses?"
Angelo smiled faintly.
"No. I'm interested in useless puppets."
Silence.
