Maya circles around Ava, hands clasped behind her back, studying Ava's face with an amused, seductive expression.
“We have a problem… You see.”
“An unknown third party, perhaps an intruder or even a rogue employee, has introduced several bugs and issues into our precious processing machine.”
Ava then looks at Maya and asks, “And what is that machine? ”
Maya then slowly walks circles before halting at the front of Ava, “It’s our central tower’s supercomputer, you certainly have the tools and the skills to pull it off”
She angled her head down, and her cybernetic eyelids drift to the side, before locking into Ava.
“Our machine uses ionized gas for computation. Somehow the error correction code has been busted, either because the circuitry has been reset or somebody short-circuited it.”
“And for low-level stuff, that’s where you come in.”
Ava nodded, in silence.
Before mustering the courage to speak, “I see,” before acknowledging her with a nod.
Maya began to walk and said, “Follow me; I will bring you to your task.”
Ava trailed Maya behind, and soon Maya’s head turned around to her face and declared, “And once you are complete, I will make you the hottest female the world has ever seen. You will thank me, for I know.”
“Consider the people you will connect with, the adoration, and the incredible experiences. You will become a princess.”
“But only if you can fix the error correction codes for me.”
Ava nodded in acquiescence to her request for favors. Maya used the elevator and ascended to the floor where the machine is at.
There was no room; there was just a chamber made of aluminum alloy with a window inside the machine. There were also tubes connecting to the machine to power it.
Maya then proceeded to open the door, where she pointed at the door, “Now, do your job. My specialized technician. Tell me what you find”
Ava steps forward, before looking at Maya with her blazer and blouse, her cybernetic blue iris were on standby.
Maya then looked up at her and said, “What? You want my eyes and small figure or something for your amusement. Am I your cheerleading figure now? Go!”
When Ava proceeds to inspect the machine, she introduces its function based on cyber-mechanical mind - understanding parts of the machine.
She then removed herself from the inside of the chamber, where she looked at Maya and said, “I recommend a temporary shutdown.”
Maya then exclaimed, “What? Are you crazy? “You want a temporary shutdown.” Her frustration was nearing its peak before she placed a hand on her forehead and, with resignation, said, “Fine.”
Ava nodded. She then said, “I haven’t got a complete holographic view of your machine, but I know your machine creates ionized gas inside the chamber, where non-locality would occur for qubit computation.”
“It was really advanced, not gonna lie.”
Maya then pointed her finger at Ava’s face, “Advanced is the word used only for commoners, but for people like you, it’s a novelty wrapped in many layers of complexity.”
Ava then brings a shrugged shoulder posture. “I suppose I am more than the commoner,” she says, tilting her head and turning around.
“I will check on your ionized gas generator. See to it that the nanofibers are quantumly isolated when encoded with their original information.”
Ava then looked at Maya and asked, “Do you know where I can access the code?”
Maya then puts her arms together, her cybernetic iris closed. “Follow me” she said, as she headed to the terminal.
Maya then pointed at Ava, “I am giving you access to the computer’s database, so hurry up and study it”
Maya then taps on some buttons, and presses on the keyboard before getting the algorithm showcase.
“Now… you do your magic.” Maya presented the computer.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Ava held her finger up, as she touched the computer before connecting to the algorithm.
With Ava’s body frozen, Maya looked up at Ava. “There, you go. Now you are on the system. Do make some suggestions and edit.”
“And most importantly, you are not to modify the code; you are to write a more perfect draft.”
“You got that?”
Ava nodded in compliance with restrictions.
Maya then turns devilish and mocking, “If not, I will make sure to turn your fashion into a clown-like one, and you will be left with the most revealing clothes; Henry would have his companions wear them in the most liberal places.”
Ava froze, hearing that sentence before waving her head.
“Alright, then,” she said, noting Maya’s words. She copied the code to her head and started reprogramming the algorithm.
She learned the whole algorithm and started making some fixes to the algorithm within minutes of Ava just standing there.
Before Ava, who just stood there and then voiced, “There” as her limbs started to move.
Maya then looked at Ava. “You done already? ”
Ava nodded. “Should I forward the code to your software engineering department? ”
Maya nodded, “Of course, present the code” as Maya held out a tablet for Ava to look at.
Ava used her mind to paste the code onto the device before Maya suggested it to the IT department.
“The code would allow the ionized gas to now be able to catch the original information from the nanofibers smoothly without corruption.”
Soon, a couple of scientists came busting in, their heads in fury and their temperaments even more temperamental.
“What the hell? I thought we already perfected the code. Why is some nobody intern all of a sudden—”
“Just came in with a code fix to an already perfect software of our Mega-Quantum Computer” he was a man with a ginger beard and hair wearing an eyeglass.
Ava and Maya glanced.
Scientists came in, whining, “Yeah, I thought that thing was already perfect, or better, amazing for all our tasks.”
“We give it a task, and it computes.”
“That’s how it’s supposed to work.”
Maya then placed a hand on her forehead and commented with resignation, “Here comes the STEM department" her eyes rolling, bracing for impact.
Ava was about to speak, “Ahhh, I was just providing the,” before Maya held her hand and said, “No. Don’t speak, Ava.”
“Let me take care of this.”
Maya then placed her hand on her waist, “You are all complacent! You never give this machine an iota of care, and when you do! You just give a minute’s care to the code and then wave your head and say, “Nothing wrong here.”
Maya then screamed from the bottom of her lungs, “YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!”
“Now get out there, and improvise on the code you are committed to! Lest I fire you people in an instance.”
The scientist then said, “Awhhh mannn, seriously. Do we get paid enough for this”
Maya then lifted her fist, now clenched. “Shut up and do what you are told! ”
The scientist then exhaled, “ughhhhhh, I can’t believe this. I won’t be enjoying Super Smash Bros elites for the night.”
Maya then exhaled, she then turned around and looked at Ava, “Anyway what else?”
Soon scientists’ murmurs begin to be heard with loudness, “Who cares? That intern was hot as hell!” ”
“Did you see what her silhouette looked like?”
“I know, right?”
“If that commit code is from that intern, it better have the vector graphics of her appearance! ”
Maya rolled her blue cybernetic eyelids. “Uh-uh, don’t mind them. Focus on the other important parts.”
Ava nodded. “Of course, I was wondering if I could repair the circuitry of your machine. Just making sure that all the wiring is fixed.”
“Hopefully, there will be physical repairs so that the ionized gas doesn’t leak while the Fourier transformer is on the bottom doing smooth quantum computations.”
Maya’s face turned confused and asked, “Huh? Could you simplify your sentence?”
Ava then answered, ‘I was saying if I could inspect the wiring and the hardware side for any defects.”
Maya then answered, “Of course, do so. While the machine is offline” and so Ava was assisted with technicians repairing anything inside the machines, the hardware layer, the leakage.
Meanwhile, scientists improvised on the error correction code, but for the hardware side there was a trial-and-error
And soon the repairs were fixed, and the algorithm was finally improvised. Ava then wipes the sweat from her forehead as she and the scientists and technicians survey the machine report and its operationality.
The engineer then noted, “The machine is working as intended.”
Maya then looked at Ava with a rather mocking but amused tone. “Hard to tell if you are special or just pure luck. If there are many pseudo technicians out there in the world, you will be their queen.”
Ava then looked at Maya and asked, “What do you mean? ”
Maya answered with interest in her voice, her finger up, “What I am saying is”
“Ahem-ahem,” she hesitated before saying, “You are a miracle-bringer.”
“Thank you for fixing our quantum computer, Miss Techno Miracle-Deliverer.”
“You have no idea how proud I am of your contributions.”
Ava clenched her two hands together on her pelvis as she stood in front of Maya, “Thank’s Maya, that mean a lot”
Ava then said, “It was no biggie; I just thought of making a patch for the new fixes. I have some expertise in cybersecurity, so I have a habit of making sure that the new code is more secure for the machine once fixed.”
“Though, if it weren’t for others, I wouldn’t be able to complete it.”
Maya slapped her back, revelling in Ava’s humility. “Don’t worry too much about it,” she reassured.
“You did your task; that’s all that matters.”
Maya then nodded, “About your payment, however, with some special benefits, meet me in my office and we’ll discuss it. Unless, of course, you don’t like Henry.”
Ava with demureness then grabbed her arm with shyness, “I don’t know if I want to meet Henry right now. After all what happened”
Maya stopped, and her head turned up to Ava with sorrow and pity. “I understand… That’s why I made sure he’s preoccupied with his board.”
Maya then walked off, and midway to exiting, said, “The corporation has its fashion and designer brand sponsors; as for your reward for fixing the machine, I am giving you additional passes to take a few of its clothes.”
“I prepared the tower’s fashion adviser to guide you along the way.” Her eyes were full of pity, but with pain. She closed her eyes before opening them, as her eyes turned to resolution before proceeding out of the room.
Maya then turned on her arm with it’s watch before pressing some button, she raised it to her mouth, “Wire the 120,000 credits to our guest virtually as a reward for the repairments of the Quantum Mega-computer”
“And have Miss Veronica attend me”
Where the female operator whispered, “Yes, Miss Maya. She is on her way.”
