Arcturon's and Vaelen's knights have manage to hold off the first wave of attacks from the orc and goblin army outside the fortress. The old fortress shuddered under the roar of the encircling horde as Arcturon’s
rapier flashed in tight, lethal lines, skewering a goblin through the throat before he pivoted to parry another; beside him, Vaelen’s spear swept in broad, decisive arcs, the metal blade cleaving through an orc’s
collarbone and sending the brute crashing down the steps. The two commanders fought back?to?back atop the highest wall, their movements contrasting but perfectly complementary — Arcturon’s precision carving
openings that Vaelen’s reach exploited with brutal efficiency. Below them, the goblin and orc army surged like a living tide, ladders slamming against stone, claws scraping as bodies scrambled upward. The knights
were managing to hold off the attack, but they were unsure for how long as the knights were already feeling the fatigue of battle. Vaelen saw that the army was slowly pushing them back, ge told Arcturon they need
to fall back inside the keep. Arcturon agreed and ordered the knights to fall back inside the keep as they slowly made their retreat. Brannoc and Thalrek and a few knights were holding the choke point as that's
where the orcs were forcing their way in. Raven threw a few smoke bombs in front of Brannoc, Thalrek and the knights as they retreated, blinding the orc and goblins forcing their way through. Cass, Raven, and a
few spell casters covered their retreat. Liora was inside the keep already healing the injured knights with a few other healers. Vaelen, Arcturon, Raven, Cass, Brannoc, and Thalrek were the last as they were
covering the knights retreat as the last of the knights made their way inside. They shut the heavy doors sealing themselves inside the keep, as this would be their last line of defense as they would not have any other
way out of the fortress. "This is it, I suppose" Arcturon said, as he looked around, the knights exhausted from fighting. Vaelen looked around seeing only about one hundred knights left, Brannoc and Thalrek stood
by the massive doors. "So, from enemies to allies and we die in here, huh?" Brannoc said with a chuckle. "I guess it won't be a bad place to die" Thalrek responding with a laugh himself.
The massive doors boomed again, dust drifting from the hinges as Vaelen, Arcturon, Cass, Raven, Brannoc, Thalrek, and Liora braced inside the keep, the air thick with sweat, blood, and the low murmur of
wounded knights. Every impact from outside rattled the stone, each one a reminder that they were trapped with no escape route, no fallback plan, nothing but the hope that Daniel and the others would somehow
turn the tide from deep within the fortress. Liora moved between cots with sharp efficiency, her hands steady even as the walls trembled, while Vaelen stood guard near the doors, spear planted like a pillar holding
the hall together. Arcturon paced behind him, calculating and recalculating strategies that all ended the same way. Cass and Raven lingered near the inner stairwell, both pretending
they weren’t listening for any sign of Daniel below. Brannoc stood near the center of the hall, his enormous shield braced against the floor, shoulders heaving from the retreat, but the way
he held that shield made it feel like the safest place in the room. Thalrek’s eyes narrowed as he tilted his head, sensing something beneath the stone. “The fortress is… stirring,” he murmured. Vaelen shot him a
look. “Stone doesn’t stir.” Thalrek didn’t blink. “This one does.” Another thunderous impact shook the hall, and for the first time, even the healers paused — because the vibration wasn’t just from the doors. It was
coming from deep below.
The four of them sprinted down the marble hallway, the shattered golems behind them already fading into silence. Daniel didn’t need directions — the Astralink Band pulsed harder with every step, tugging him
forward like a compass locked onto something ancient and waiting. The air grew warmer, the stone beneath their feet humming faintly, as if the fortress itself was waking up.
The hallway opened into a broad, circular engine room, not enormous but large enough to feel important — maybe thirty feet across, with smooth white stone walls and a slightly domed ceiling etched with faint
runes. The room felt tight, focused, like a chamber built for one purpose and one purpose only.
And in the center stood the engine.
A massive stone sphere hovered a few inches above a carved pedestal, its surface etched with deep spiraling runes. Surrounding it were three thick metal rings, each one suspended in the air without touching
the others. The rings were ancient bronze?gold, beautifully forged, and heavy enough that they should’ve been impossible to lift — yet they hung there effortlessly, perfectly still. Until Daniel stepped forward.
The Astralink Band flared, and the innermost ring gave a slow, deliberate rotation, metal gliding through the air without a sound. The second ring followed, then the third, each turning in its own direction, creating a
silent gyroscopic dance around the stone core.
Lyra’s voice brushed his mind, soft and steady. “Daniel… this is the heart. This is what the fortress was built around.”
Milo stared at the engine, awe widening his eyes. “This thing… it’s not just a power source. It’s a stabilizer. A control system. A whole mechanism.”
Keith swallowed, glancing back at the hallway. “And the army outside is about to break through. So, whatever this thing does… we need it now.”
The stone sphere pulsed again — in perfect sync with the Astralink Band.
And the fortress trembled, as if holding its breath. Daniel, stared at the Astralink band on his wrist as it pulsed and glowed brightly. "It's reacting to the band" Lyra said as she stared at the band on Daniel's wrist.
Then a window of projection opened above Daniel's band in ancient language. Lyra easily translated them for Daniel as it was explaining to him if he wants to activate and awaken the airship. "Airship?" Daniel
asked as he was confused. "Wait this fortress is actually an airship?" Milo asked as he was just as confused as Daniel was. Keith was thinking this must have been a massive airship, maybe even some sort of
warship maybe. An ancient warship, he thought to himself, then explained it to the others. "Let's not waste time and awaken this sleeping airship then" Daniel said as he willed the airship awake. As Daniel did, a
door opened up to another room on the airship. The group walked into the new room as it seemed like it was the bridge on a ship, ancient consoles surrounded the room and a seat at the center of it all. Large
windows surrounded the front area of the bridge. The ancient consoles began glowing and warming up, the airship re awakening after centuries of slumber.
Daniel looked behind them as if the heart of the airship they awakened got his attention. A light box appeared right in front of Daniel, as if it was a gift from the airship to him. "A gift of some sorts" Lyra said to
Daniel as she stood next to him. The airship shook as if fully awakened now as it began rising from the ground it was buried in the tremor hit hard enough to rattle the dust loose from the ceiling beams. Arcturon
steadied himself against a plain stone column as the entire keep groaned — a deep, ancient sound that didn’t belong to any building made by human hands.
Raven looked up sharply. “The walls… they’re shifting.”
Another rumble rolled through the chamber, longer and deeper this time. The floor vibrated beneath their boots, not chaotically, but rhythmically — like a pulse traveling through the stone.
Vaelen’s eyes narrowed. “This is coming from below us.”
A sudden jolt lifted the entire room an inch off the ground The knights staggered. Loose dust and small stones skittered across the smooth marble floor.
Brannoc braced himself against a support beam. “What in the hells was that?”
The keep lurched again — higher this time — and a low, resonant hum filled the air, vibrating through their bones. The plain stone walls shifted, seams appearing where none had been moments before. Panels
slid aside, revealing smooth, untouched surfaces beneath, as if the room were shedding a disguise.
Arcturon’s expression hardened with dawning realization. “This isn’t a keep. It’s a docking structure. Thalrek stared at him. “Docking for what?”
The answer came as the floor tilted slightly, then steadied — not falling but rising. The entire keep was lifting.
Stone plates along the walls slid open, locking into new positions with heavy, deliberate clicks. The ceiling groaned as ancient mechanisms stirred, shedding centuries of dust. The room around them wasn’t
collapsing — it was transforming, unfolding like a massive stone shell revealing the machinery beneath. Raven grabbed a support beam as the floor rose another foot. “We’re… going up!”
Outside, muffled through the thick stone, came the distant roar of the enemy army — shouts turning to confusion, then panic, as the ground split and the buried airship began to tear itself free.

Vaelen looked toward the sealed entrance. “Daniel… whatever you’re doing down there, don’t stop. The hum deepened. The keep rose higher.
The walls shifted into their true configuration — smooth, seamless, functional. Arcturon exhaled slowly, awe breaking through his usual composure. “We’re inside the entrance of an airship. And it’s waking up.”
The floor lifted again — steady, unstoppable — as the fortress began its ascent from the earth for the first time in centuries. The massive airship now slowly rising from the ground it has been buried in for
centuries. Daniel grabbed Lyra sitting her down on the chair just to be safe as he slowly made his way to the ancient consoles near the front. Milo and Keith followed Daniel, trying to figure out how this ancient
airship works while it slowly rises from the ground. "Daniel! to your left, it looks like a pilot's console" Lyra said, trying to talk through all the rumbling from the rising airship. The console seemed to need two pilots
to fly this massive airship. Daniel sat down in one of the chairs as Milo sat on the opposite side. "Try centering the airship so were not leaning one way" Lyra said as Daniel and Milo looked at what should be the
steering wheel. But it's more of two levers for a left and right arm, Daniel and Milo looking at each other trying to figure out how to steer the airship as Daniel called out to Milo try pulling the right arm back.
Somehow it managed to work as the right side of the airship slowly began leaning upwards. The group began cheering and yelling with excitement as the Airship rose above ground and they saw light from sky
through the large windows of the airship. As the upper part of the airship rose above the ground, the orcs and goblins that were in the courtyard began falling off, the others retreating to a safer distance.
The airship emerged from the earth in a breathtaking sweep of white alloy and deep, luminous blue, its hull rising like a buried titan shaking off centuries of dust. Smooth white plating caught the sunlight with a
cold, polished sheen, while thin channels of glowing blue energy pulsed between each interlocking panel, tracing the vessel’s geometry like veins awakening after a long sleep. Four massive stabilizer wings
unfolded from its sides with a slow mechanical groan, their white exteriors lined with intricate blue circuitry that ignited as they locked into place. Ventral thrusters flared with a rich blue glow, casting light across
the drifting dust clouds as layered decks, terraces, and runic channels flickered to life along the ship’s spine. With its knight?helm prow and cathedral?long silhouette, the vessel looked less like a machine of war
and more like a moving monument, a colossal relic of a civilization that fused engineering with artistry as it rose into the sky, fully awakened at last. Lyra linked to the airship as she talked on what is supposedly
speakers, she called Arcturon and the rest of them to the bridge. "I'll lead you to the bridge asn we can talk there" Lyra said, as she led Arctuorn and the rest of them to the bridge where Daniel and Milo were
trying piloting the massive airship. Cass looked around the bridged amazed at the ancient technology he was looking at. Liora went to Daniel, excited as she saw him trying to pilot the airship, "look at you Mr.
pilot" she said in a playful manner. Daniel smiled and explained it's not as easy as it looks. Cass then went over to Daniel and asked if he could try as Daniel got up and let him as Daniel was unsure how to pliot
it. Daniel then explained it took two people to pilot the airship, as he pointed to where Milo was sitting. Daniel then introduced Lyra and Keith to the group, explaining how Lyra was the one who knew the most
about other worlds and these lost ancient technologies. As the group was having some fun talking and finally relaxing, they realized there was a small group of orcs and goblins on the airship. Lyra categorized
them as enemies in the airships systems. Daniel, Arcturon, Vaelen, Brannoc, Thalrek, Raven, Milo and the what's left of the knights all rushed onto the outer deck where the goblins and orcs were. Daniel
summoned his Aether blade as he was the first one to make contact, slashing and taking out two goblins and an orc. Arcturon, and Valen were right behind him. Raven, Thalrek, and Brannoc went the opposite
direction to fight another group on the other side of the airship's deck. Milo was on a deck above his cousin Daniel raining ice magic in the shape of arrows onto the enemies. Lyra explained as best she could to
Cass on how to pilot and control the airship as another knight was helping Cass to fly the airship. Then Lyra realized there were still dormant golems that she could use. It was the airships defense systems, only
about one hundred golems. Which wasn't bad, she moved to the center consoles and activated the golems, as she already entered in the system the goblins and orcs were the enemies. Doors opens up on both
sides of the airship as golems came out and attacked the goblins and orcs. Now this fight just became one sided as the knights cheered on as the golems killed the goblins and orcs. Lyra told the knights to fall
back as she knew they were exhausted, but they still rushed the goblins and orcs with renewed energy. Daniel told Arcturon and Vaelen they should sit back and rest as they have been fighting all night. Arcturon
and Vaelen explained they would keep fighting as they split up and took the left side of the deck to fight off the goblins as Golems joined them in the fight. Daniel and Milo took the right side of the airship and
fought together. The deck shook beneath Daniel’s boots as the airship climbed higher, blue thrusters roaring against the wind. Goblins scrambled across the white alloy plating, their claws screeching against the
metal as they swarmed toward him. Daniel exhaled once, steadying his grip on the wooden handle. The pale Aether blade snapped into existence with a soft, bending shimmer—light warping around its edge like
reality itself was trying not to touch it. The first goblin lunged. Daniel stepped forward and cut through its forearm in a single, effortless motion. No resistance. No drag. The limb simply separated, the creature
collapsing in shock before he finished it with a clean, upward slice. Another goblin leapt from the railing—Daniel pivoted, the blade tracing a thin arc that severed its torso diagonally, the two halves sliding apart
before hitting the deck. A deep roar shook the air. An orc charged him, cleaver raised high. Daniel met the swing head?on, Veilbreaker slicing through the metal weapon like it was paper. The orc froze, staring at
the stump of its blade—then Daniel stepped in and drove the Aether edge straight through its chest. The creature toppled backward, leaving a clean, cauterized line through its armor.
A sharp whistle cut through the chaos. Milo. He stood braced near the central spine of the ship, staff glowing with crystalline blue light. With a flick of his wrist, a volley of ice shards shot past Daniel, impaling a
cluster of goblins and freezing them solid mid?scream. Another wave surged forward—Milo slammed his staff into the deck, sending a sheet of frost racing across the metal. Goblins skidded, slipped, and crashed
into each other in a tangled heap Daniel didn’t waste the opening. He dashed across the frozen surface, sliding low beneath an orc’s swing. As he passed, he carved a clean line across its knee—Veilbreaker
severing tendon and bone in a single whisper?quiet stroke. The orc collapsed, roaring, and Daniel rose into a spinning cut that took its head clean off. Milo locked three more orcs in place with ice creeping up their
legs. Daniel moved through them like a scalpel—one precise cut per target, each strike deliberate and final. The Aether blade hummed with every motion, its pale glow reflecting off the white deck and the rising
blue thrusters. Wind howled. The ship climbed. Enemies screamed and fell. And Daniel and Milo held the deck together— one freezing the battlefield, the other slicing through it with a blade that reality itself
feared to touch. The last of the Goblins finally went down. The bridge thrummed with energy as the airship climbed higher, blue runes pulsing across the white alloy panels. Cass leaned over the pilot console,
eyes darting between the shifting displays. The knight in the co?pilot seat worked to keep the ship level, while another knight stood at the weapons station, hands hovering over the targeting controls.
Lyra stood behind Cass, one hand braced lightly on the back of his chair, her eyes scanning the cascading streams of ancient data flowing across the glass. The soft blue glow reflected off her features, giving her
an almost ethereal presence against the chaos outside. “Cass,” she said calmly, “the ship’s weapons are active, but their output is unstable. You must regulate the firing sequence manually.”
Cass snorted. “Lyra, I barely regulate my breathing.” Her eyes narrowed just slightly. “That is precisely why I’m supervising you.”
He pointed toward the weapons knight without looking away from the console.
“You. Aim the cannons at the horde below — the big cluster near the ridge. Make it count.”
“Yes, sir!” the knight barked, fingers flying across the targeting array.
The reticle projected across the canopy, locking onto the massive swarm of goblins and orcs flooding the battlefield. Lyra stepped closer, her voice low but steady.
“Targeting systems are synchronized. Firing pathway is stable… for now.”
Cass grinned. “Good enough. Fire.”
The airship’s side panels unfolded with a deep mechanical groan, revealing the long, angular cannons built into the hull. Blue energy surged through their cores, pulsing brighter and brighter until—
THWIP?THWIP?THWIP?THWIP
A volley of thin blue lasers shot downward, each one striking the ground with surgical precision. Every impact detonated in a violent burst of blue?white light. Goblins vanished. Orcs were thrown skyward. The
earth cratered under the barrage “Direct hits!” the weapons knight shouted. “Multiple detonations!” Cass slammed his palm on the console. “Hell yes. Sweep left. Carve a line through them.”
The knight adjusted the reticle. Cass hit the firing control again.
THWIP?THWIP?THWIP
Another spread. Another chain of explosions. A glowing trench ripped through the horde, bodies scattering like leaves in a storm. Lyra’s voice sharpened. “Cass, the cannons are overheating. You’re pushing them
beyond safe output.” “Then they better keep up,” he shot back. “Knight — full spread. Wipe the ridge.” “Yes, sir!”
The cannons unleashed a wide fan of beams, sweeping across the battlefield like a scythe of light. Explosions rippled outward in a rolling wave, erasing entire formations in seconds. Smoke rose. The ground
glowed blue. The horde broke, panicking. Cass leaned back slightly, breathless, exhilarated. “Lyra,” he said, staring at the devastation below, “I think I’m in love with this ship.”
Lyra didn’t even blink. “Please refrain from forming emotional attachments to the weapon systems.” “No promises" Cass said with a satisfied look on his face.
Daniel and the rest joined Lyra on the bridge as they witnessed the army below get wiped out by the airship's cannons. "This is an amazing airship Arcturon said" As he looked around the bridge. "Is this where
you've been the entire time, Keith?! Daniel asked Keith as he's been sitting in the captain's chair the whole time. "Yep, not like I could do anything" he said as he slumped into the chair more. As Keith said that,
Daniel remembered he gotten something from the airship earlier, "Come on Keith we need to talk" Daniel said as he led Keith outside one the deck of the ship. Lyra and Milo followed behind Keith as they knew
what Daniel was up too. Daniel summoned the box from the inventory system in his Astralink Band. The one that was gifted to him from the airship, "remember I told you wanted you to get the first Astralink Band
when we find another one?" Daniel told Keith, as Keith's eyes widened and lit up with excitement. "No way dude! Seriously?" Keith excitedly asked, as Daniel held out the box and told Keith that the Astralink Band
Daniel got was for him. Daniel explained he checked out the box earlier and saw it was one like his. Keith grabbed the box as he kept thanking Daniel for the Astralink Band as now Keith has one instead of just
Daniel. Keith opened the box revealing a Astralink Band watch just like Daniels, except this band was different in colors. The band is a deep, saturated green, smooth and matte like polished stone, wrapping his
wrist in a single unbroken curve. Along its edges runs a thin silver inlay, not bright or flashy but cool and precise, catching light in narrow, controlled glints. The silver lines taper toward the center module, where
the interface sits recessed beneath a translucent layer that softens the glow. When active, the band emits a steady green pulse from within, the light diffusing through the material like something alive beneath the
surface. The silver accents sharpen the effect, giving the whole device a disciplined, almost surgical clarity. Even idle, it looks purposeful — a quiet, grounded presence with a hint of restrained power. "Thank you,
Daniel, now I can finally help you out on adventures." Keith said with excitement. Lyra and Milo congratulated Keith and receiving an Astralink Band as he was now part of the group. Lyra explained that she would
help train Keith, in learning everything he needs to learn. From using the band, and how the band would help bring out skills and abilities like Daniel has been through. Milo also said he would help Keith out as he
decided to join Daniel as he helped out Daniel's father in the past to stop Parallax Innovations. "Then it's settled, we now officially have four members in this group fighting against this company." Lyra said with a
smile, as Daniel looked around at the airship they were on, at Lyra, Milo, and Keith as he would have never thought he'd be travelling to other worlds with his friends and his cousin. Thoughts began going through
his mind, who else is getting a band? what's going to happen next? What happened to his father? Where did Lyra come from? Too many questions, Daniel thought, and decided, one step at a time.
