Legends - Klanussul Creates the Zenototes

And so it was that Klanussul took up the Tote from its den, he took it up and sat it upon his altar, and he said to the Tote: “Be ye O creature, one which may serve me, for I have grown tired of the ways of my fellow Ancients and wish to have a worthy servant for the rest of my days.”

And the Tote replied, “I may not serve thee, for I am a simple creature. Thou shalt not be satisfied in my ways.”

And Klanussul replied, “What do ye wish for me to give you?”

The Tote replied, “I wish to walk upright as do the ancients.”

And so Klanussul granted that the Tote should walk upright. And the Tote began to walk, and the Tote served him well until one day it came to his throne.

“My Lord, Thou shalt not be satisfied in my ways, therefore I must leave.”

And Klanussul replied, “What do ye wish for me to give you?”

The Tote replied, “I wish to have hands as nimble as the ancients, and I wish to have feet as swift as the ancients.”

And so Klanussul granted that the Tote should have hands which could carry and build many things, and feet to run far and jump high, and the Tote served him well until one day it came to his throne.

“My Lord, Thou shalt not be satisfied in my ways, therefore I must leave.”

And Klanussul replied, “What do ye wish for me to give you?”

The Tote replied, “I wish to carry my young with me until their birth as the ancients. I wish to nurse them until they grow strong.”

And so Klanussul granted that the Tote should give birth as did the ancients, and Klanussul said to the Tote, “Ye are no longer a Tote, henceforth Ye shalt be called a Zenotote.”

And the Tote replied, “My Lord, please have mercy on me, why must I give up my ways?”

And Klanussul replied, “Ye has claimed my glory, but ye does not wish to ascend with me? I shalt not allow such dishonor. Ye will be my servant for the rest of thy days. If Ye shalt leave, ye shalt face disaster for the rest of your days.”

And some Zenototes ran, and Klanussul threw them into the sea. He called them Xenototes, for they were not like the others. And the other Zenototes stayed and serve Klanussul to this very day.
