Chapter Eight: The Confirmation part 2

“I’ll deal with the Hens so you can focus on the Curs.” Alexandra said as she leapt away to draw attention of the few hundred Hens.

Kenny drew his Shield from his soul and let his shield guide him through defending against the lunging Curs.

He raised his shield to slam against the first Cur’s throat. The momentum of the Cur was enough to bisect the creature on his spear.

His Threads raced down the spear and blossomed into a rotating rose that eagerly drank all the Cur had to offer. A strong heat was drawn from the canine’s stomach and lungs, which flowed through his arm and settled into his stomach.

Kenny’s body got to work and chips of warmth broke away to be absorbed into his qi. Both increasing his capacity for Qi and slightly refilling his current pool.

Kenny slammed his shield down against the ground to block the enemy from sweeping his legs out from underneath him.

He then stabbed the dazed Cur in the spine with his spear as he felt something snap inside the monster.

His Threads confirmed that the broken bones were the spine and hips.

This time the warmth didn’t go into his stomach, instead it went into his lungs and into his soul where it vanished from his senses. Presumable eaten by his God-Empress.

Kenny blinked as he pushed himself to the ground which let the next Cur to sail overhead. Threads burst out of his shoulders and speared the Cur in its shoulders and hips.

The Cur whimpered before it belched fire at the Threads trapping it, and the canine plummeted to land behind Kenny.

Kenny yelped as his back shivered and dropped the burnt Threads to the ground, before Kenny lashed out with his right leg and his foot impacted the rear left leg of the Cur. Small sharp spikes extended from the sole of his foot as he consumed the leg of the monster.

“Just wait until I figure out flame type spells so that I can burn you back!” He yelled at the canine, as he looked over his shoulder at the beast.

The Cur howled as it turned its torso and spewed more flame at Kenny, who partially dissolved his spine and shoulder to bring his shield around his torso to block the attack. The fifth and final Cur took the oppurrtinity to leap upon Kenny’s front now that it was exposed. Kenny growled as his Threads wrapped around the Cur’s paws and trapped it in place, then he dissolved his chest muscles to allow his ribcage to burst into the Cur.

His weaponized ribcage successfully pierced the heart and lungs of the Cur on top of him. Before it completely engulfed the monster and crushed it into his chest, killing the Cur instantly.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Kenny then sharpened the Cur’s biomass into blades and shot them out of his back, slicing the Cur behind him to bits. Threads exploded like an algae bloom and formed a net that was water tight and gleefully drank the Cur’s entirety.

Kenny shivered as he put his body back together. He then converted some of his new biomass into his pseudo-grass and extended his pseudo-hair down to his hips.

“Wait, I can absorb Qi from my enemies. I can also absorb biomass from them.” Kenny rubbed his chin as he pondered those facts. “I wonder if I can directly convert Biomass into Qi?”

Kenny then shoved half of the remaining biomass into his Dantian and converted it all into Qi as some new instinct guided him. Of course half of his new Qi reserves went to heal his Soul-Tenant.

He shook his head as he climbed back to his feet and walked over the rim and saw Alexandra gleefully slaughtered the beasts around her. Lightning whips arched against the far wall and turned whichever Hatchet Hens unfortunate enough to touch it into ashes. Alexandra’s sword was busy with forcing the Hens into the lightning spells.

Kenny sat down on the rim to watch the Hens get eviserated.

The Hens were desperate to get closer to Alexandra but they were intercepted by the sword and whips that curled around her like a parent would with their children. The lightning shell pulsed like a heartbeat or rhythmic beat in an Electric Dance song. The shell then grew until it engulfed a thirty foot area around Alexandra and split like massive plates that were dropped.

The shell pieces advanced into the horde of Hens like a trash compactor that did its duty with lethal force. They had advanced rapidly to their limit of one hundred yards away from Alexandra and had vanished from existence.

Alexandra breathed in as she looked around and smiled upon seeing Kenny, with a small jump the Cultivator landed next to the Paladin.

“Did it work?” Alexandra asked. “About harvesting the Curs’ flame sacs.”

Kenny nodded. “I gained a blueprint for the sacs, so if I have enough biomass then I can make my own.”

Alexandra smirked as she sat down next to him, “That’s great news, anything else?”

Kenny smiled back, “I figured out how to directly burn biomass into Qi, which is very helpful because it both increases my Qi reserves and replensishes my current Qi.”

Alexandra eyes’ filled with envy, “Oh how lucky you are. I need either rest or specialized items like pills or food to instantly replenish my current Qi.”

Kenny blinked, “What, you can’t absorb unaspected Qi from the surroundings.”

Alexadra nodded and laid back, “Techically I can, but its 10 unaspected Qi to 1 useable Qi.”

“I. I.” Kenny stammered. “I thought there would be a device or something to convert Qi better for you. If you didn’t invent it yourself.”

“Yep, there was.” Alexandra gave a thumbs up. “Unfortunately they all broke yesterday when Sying deleted electricity. That also means that I can’t eat Electricty anymore, and eating my own lightning spells won’t replenish my reserves.”

Alexandra shook her head and sat up, leaning on her arms behind her. “Enough about me, has your Soul-Tenant been eating well?”

  Kenny nodded.

“Alright, let’s go back to the city and then the farm.” Alexandra said as she stood up and reached down to help Kenny up.
