Every world has some objective truths and so does this world.
1. You cannot go faster than light.
2. You cannot reach Absolute Zero or Absolute Hot.
3. Everyone can be killed, except those who predate the concept of death
Though the third one was always left for debate as some believed that a few gods must have died before, while some believed that some part of Gods died alongside their mortal representatives.
But the first two have been proven to be unbreakable laws under normal circumstances.
'But that doesn't apply here at all.. THAT DOESN'T APPLY HERE AT ALL?!' They shouted in their head as Abraxas's body melted off their grip.
They tried their hardest to crush his head before he could, but they were not fast enough. And as the temperature within the dome began to plummet, so did their confidence.
The resistance thermometers in the middle of the Research Centre burst as the temperature began to drop. One second, it read 100 Kelvin.
Colder than any flesh that their body was made to handle.
10 Kelvin,
Every source of light was enveloped by darkness and it began to absorb all of it. Everything including the Fuel rods in the basement, the biological reactions in the blood on the ground and even they, were enveloped by the darkness.
1 Kelvin,
Their body began to tremble. Was it out of the sheer cold or fear? They could not tell but one thing was certain. They had been slowed down by the sheer cold as the flesh went rigid and the cold metal began to reject the flesh.
The only thing keeping them alive was the DNA of the Angel's inside them. No other living being could withstand such temperatures.
Yet they smirked.
And then time stopped. Everything inside the dome, stood still. Covered in darkness as even the photons emitting from the reactions within their body were faltering.
All physical laws began to fail, true stationary objects were created in that dome. Energy held no meaning, motion had no meaning, and most importantly, life had no meaning.
What was birthed by the sheer darkness enveloping the area, was a Hellscape. Cold, unforgiving, unliveable world where death is what awaits you and that too would not take you without his permission.
And right as the temperature dropped to absolute zero, their body began to adapt. The process to thaw out was slow, as just the areas where the Angels' DNA was located was capable of moving.
It made more sense why Abraxas was focused on destroying the Angels' DNA. He had planned all of this and he knew a lot more than he let them on.
But they couldn't mutate fast enough, as a sword pierced their chest in a slow, teasing manner. No sound was made, and the blade moved as if it felt no resistance from their body.
And then, their back began to burn. Not just burn, it began to sublimate in that instance and before they knew it, part of their flesh was gone.
The Angel DNA within their cells accelerated the regeneration, thus perpetually stretching the agony but they could not scream.
Their body was trying to keep them alive, from just the first blade. When out of the darkness, another blade materialized, this time piercing their head through their eyes.
Then another pierced their tenth thoracic vertebrae, extending the agony even further. The pain they were experiencing was incomparable. It was beyond anything they had ever felt in their life.
"Now.. Let us figure out who you truly are.. or should I say, What is your real name," A voice rang in their head, followed by a deafening, eccentric laugh.
As the laugh died down, the blades disappeared, blending into the darkness that enveloped.
Nine floating stones appeared a few metres in front of them, followed by a pair of eyes shining black. It was a shade different to the surroundings that devoured everything.
His gaze carried warmth, unlike the cold surroundings and it scared them. A warm hatred towards them as the nine ominous stones revolved around his head.
"So was your name.. :@!'$/?"
His words splintered the outer dome, though another one appeared in its place near instantaneously.
"Not it.. You are definitely not the twins, so how about Kolpjos?"
The dome shattered once again only to be replaced instantaneously. Abraxas was wounded by the names as well, as he was bleeding and the all-consuming effects of the darkness was weakening, evident by the miniscule increase in temperature.
"Still not.. it, I'll say every name I know then," Abraxas said before he took a deep breath, resolving himself. And he spoke, something inside him was trying its best to keep him alive.
Every word he spoke was followed by a ripple of time, travelling through space. It affected even those who were outside the barrier.
The entirety of the world was affected but Techonia was the biggest fish in the lake.
And then came time for another valuable ally to join this war..
__________
In the eastern camp,
After ten minutes of non-stop crying, 13's tears had dried up. But her heart ache did not.
"7.. Please.. wake up. I can't live without you.. Please.. wake up," 13's mental state was worsening every second.
Even after the medical care, 7th did not move. His body was healing but his consciousness did not return, as if his mind was completely scarred by something. And 13th was unable to bear this, 7th loved her dearly and so did she.
The day he went missing after entering Techonia was the worst day for her. Back when she was still the acting Matriarch, she couldn't barge into the city with the forces without Lady 4th's approval and when she was finally rid of the ceremonial tag, the war was declared.
She never had the chance to look for him herself. Though she was happy that she got to see him now, but being unable to hug him and listen to him laugh was eating her inside out.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
It was then the wind blew inside the tent, 13th quickly got up to close the tent's door so no dust fell on 7's open wounds but she was quickly knocked down by something large, causing her glasses to fall off her face.
She quickly picked her glasses from the floor before closing the tent, then she remembered being knocked to the side. She quickly turned her head and she saw a woman standing next to 7th's bed.
A tall woman with greenish black hair and her demeanor screamed authority, making 13 gulp in fear as the woman picked up the grimoire by 7's side.
It was a book he kept to his side even when he was bathing. He always called it a gift from his sister, though he never specified which one.
But 13th, being the closest to 7th, knew who it was from. 7th had a strained relationship with all his siblings, except for one. And that was Seeker, the 2nd Proxy of TiciLi.
And right in that moment, Seeker was standing by 7th- her brother's, bed.
"I told you to open the book and tear one page if you were ever in danger.. Why can't you listen to me? Don't be like those assholes from our family.." Seeker said while biting her lip in anger. Blood trickled down her lips and fell on the grimoire as she bit herself even more.
And as the grimoire began to glow red, Seeker took deep breaths to calm herself down before shifting her focus to 13th.
"You.. You are the girl my brother talked about so much. Take care of him while I am gone. He will be fine now," Seeker said as she handed 13 the grimoire before she disappeared from the tent as swiftly as she came.
Right as she left, the grimoire glowed down and after a few moments, 7th sat back up after coughing a few times.
"Wha... Where am I?" His voice was coarse and very soft. He found himself in a bed, not chained to a wall in the Research Centre.
And his head turned, he saw 13th. She was standing there, holding the grimoire in her hand, and her eyes filled with tears.
"I.. am sorry for worrying you,"
7th spoke before 13th ran up to him. She pressed herself against him and cried, but this time, out of happiness.
"You idiot.. You are an idiot.."
"I am sorry for worrying you.."
7th caressed 13th while she cried in his arms. But his focus was on the blood soaked grimoire, because it meant his sister was present in the scene.
And as another wave of time came by and hit him, 7th began to cough.
"Wh- what is happening?" He asked 13th.
"Lord 5th is fighting something.. A lot of Techonia is covered under a dome and we can't tell what's underneath but.. whatever it is inside, it is scary," 13th said as she looked into 7th's eyes.
"You might know something about it.. but don't even try. You are in no shape to help," 13th spoke in both threatening and worried tone.
"I won't try.. He'll likely figure it out," 7th said as he scratched 13th's scalps, watching 13th and her worries melt at his touch was a thing he loved. And now, 7th could experience it again.
Yet worry lingered in the back of his mind. He couldn't remember the details that he nearly sacrificed his life for.
'Was it a dream?' He thought to himself. But he knew not to provoke 13 anymore.
__________
"Olivia.. It is bad," Seeker spoke as the hologram of a woman with blue hair in a bang cut appeared beside her. Her eyes were closed but she slowly opened it, and her anger was visible.
"Lady Seeker.. It is I, Olecumbra, Disciple of Justifia's Proxy.. Should you require anything, allow me to assist.." Olecumbra spoke, on her knees behind Seeker.
"Olecumbra, was it? You need not help us, proceed to your assigned task.. Just make sure no one disturbs us," Olivia's hologram spoke, to which Ole just nodded before she walked away.
At that point, Morel was observing the two Proxies from a distance, ignoring their conversations for the most part.
But he broke into a cold sweat when he heard Xavia's voice, whose hologram appeared.
"Lady Seeker.. You called.." Xavia spoke, dressed in a hooded gown. A dress, she wears during sermons, suggesting she was doing some form of damage control.
After all, the time waves emitting out of the dome covering the Research Centre were hitting the entire world at once.
"Morel.. No listening," Xavia spoke, before she continued to talk with Olivia and Seeker.
Meanwhile, Morel closed his ears and continued his patrol around the Eastern Camp. The war had reached a scale where other Proxies were getting involved, including Xavia.
__________
After a few minutes had passed, Voice and Lilly joined the call, their holograms appeared murky and soon everyone's holograms became muddy and their voices distorted.
"Seeker.. You should take precautions when calling us.. A lot of us wish to keep our identities secret," Voice said before her focus was turned to the Dome, which had shattered for the sixth time and remade again.
"Hmm.. It seems like he is having trouble. But he did ask us to take care of our people," Voice spoke as she turned her distorted head to look at Seeker.
"Then what are you doing there?" Voice asked with an accusatory tone, as if she was violating the pact she signed.
"My brother was nearly killed.. I am here to take care of him and I found Justifia's Proxy doing.. whatever that is," Seeker said, biting her lips out of frustration.
"Seeker.. What do you feel there?" Olivia asked as she closed her eyes.
"Oppression.. That dome, you see.. Is nigh indestructible.. I doubt I can scratch it even if I tried.. Yet it was destroyed six times," Seeker spoke as she saw the dome shatter the seventh time. But this time, it did not recover.
"Guys.. I think we do need to prepare for the worst.. He is missing his arm," Seeker spoke, horrified at the sight of Abraxas missing his arm while a monster, whose body was crumbling with mutated flesh and machinery clinging to the body.
"I am coming there in a minute," Voice spoke in a hurry as her gaze met the monsters. In that moment, the other Proxies disconnected from the call as well.
__________
"Pfft! Are your friendly Proxies calling for reinforcements? Not that it will matter.." They spoke as they were holding Abraxas's ripped arm.
Their body had already mutated to handle the cold but it was near impossible to hold Abraxas's body as his body burned at a temperature that evaporated anything it touched.
'How was his body so hot? He should have burned out by now?' The questions surfaced in their mind but there was no time to get answers.
Abraxas had nearly lost his consciousness after speaking their name. He was bleeding through his eyes and nose, as he had spoken their name.
The cold air had returned to normal but the heat from his body was now heating up the surroundings, as the temperature slowly rose up from Absolute Zero to nearly 50°C by now.
"Knowing your name makes it easier.." Abraxas spoke as one of the Nine Stones circling his head glowed bright.
"What good is my name if you cannot even use it? Look at you, you are missing a limb and your strongest attack couldn't kill me," They mocked his attempts at killing them.
Abraxas broke out laughing at their mockery. "Kill you?" He laughed as he slowly stood up while his arms began to grow back. His regeneration began to accelerate, as in mere moments, he grew back his arms.
"I know you cannot die without your true name be known.."
Abraxas's words made them shiver, that criteria for their death, was a secret they guarded with their lives.
"To think someone from a world where I have never stepped foot on, knew about this.. There must a traitor amongst us.." They laughed as they carved something in the severed arm they held before throwing it into a portal that appeared out of thin air.
"Unfortunately for you, you will die here without ever being able to use it.."
Just then, thousands of portals opened above their heads. Through which stepped out hundreds of angels, their bodies were grotesque and unnatural.
But right as they were about to step out, "?l??ē?" The words echoed through the air and the portals above them shut close, tearing the beings who were coming out, in half.
Elaira, who had closed the gates in the skies, coughed. "Ughh.. Doing it thousands at a time hurts.."
"You do not understand your situation.." Abraxas laughed cynically before he began to exchange blows with them again.
He no longer put up his guard, letting their claws sink into his flesh while his blade severed their DNA. As even now, his focus remained on something unknown.
He knew what their true name was. He knew who 'The Mechanical God' really was.
With every cut of his blade, he etched something on their metallic body, while he was barely alive and something inside him was burning away.
But now, no one was looking at the two of them. For as long as they were alive, the gates in the skies will continue to open and expand, over and over again.
The gates did not open just above Techonia, but over every major city in the world. Every city was at a high alert, and people from all circles of life helped each other in surviving.
__________
"I can see why he warned us about this.." Hari, the Proxy of Haruna, spoke to herself, her gaze fixed on the gates in the sky. The disfigured monsters that had stepped out were split in half by her and for now, the gates were quiet.
She was covered in blood of the disfigured Angels and did not care to wipe it off her face. Her armor was enhanced by her Divine Art and absorbed the blood, revealing her appearance.
Her hair was tied up in a bun, and she was wielding a gun, also enhanced by her Divine Technological Art.
"It seems I won't be able to rest for now.." Hari sighed as she looked up and saw a few more deformed Angels trying to come out of the gates.
"Sage.. Can you handle the Void Well?" Hari spoke in the walkie talkie near her shoulder, while shooting the angels who tried to come out.
Every bullet she fired hit the target and she smiled as she watched their upper bodies burst into a mist of blood.
"Yes, ma'am. I will be investigating the Void Well.." Her walkie talkie buzzed with a reply as she took the final shot.
"Thank you," Hari replied with a smile before turning her focus to more of the angels who tried to slip out of the gate and run away to safety.
"I hope everyone else is doing well.. especially you, Abraxas," Hari muttered to herself, wishing him 'Good luck' from the bottom of her heart.
