Chapter 717

  Chapter 717

The forest elves were silent for several minutes. Based on Anton’s observations, it was as if they were contemplating the film they had just seen. He was surprised that the Brownies seemed to respect the need for silence that the forest elves were in, and all of them were silent as well, including the children. It lasted for a good four or five minutes.

After that, the Brownie elder clapped his hands, and several brownies ran outside. After a few minutes, those who went outside returned with the food everyone would eat for lunch. Anton did not know when the brownies managed to prepare them.

The food consisted of different varieties, from meat to vegetable dishes. There were also some pastries and different sweets. The beverages were different fruit juices.

Anton was surprised that the forest elves were not vegetarians like in the stories. They ate even the meat dishes that the brownie folks had prepared. The only community he had seen that preferred fruits, nuts, and vegetables was the Pixies, but he had only seen a few children, so he could not truly conclude that all of the Pixies were vegetarian. He had not even seen the Groots eat anything, so he also did not know what their diet was.

While eating, the forest elves talked to Anton. They knew that the movies came from him. He had to reiterate to them that the Avatar film was a work of fiction and not real. He needed to, since they had so many questions about Pandora, like its location, about the fact that it was a moon and was only orbiting its planet. They had questions about the “Maglev” effect that allowed the Hallelujah Mountains to float. He kept repeating that all they had seen, the huge planet, the beautiful moon, the alien-looking flora, fauna, and forest animals, and especially the Na’vi, were created through movie magic, somewhat like illusion magic. It was as if they could not believe that the story was not real.

Anton just shook his head when he saw them ignoring him and continued talking about their desire to go to Pandora and explore the beauty of the planet. Anton just joined their discussion and told them that they would not be able to survive Pandora’s atmosphere since its composition was different. That was the reason why the humans were wearing oxygen masks when they went outside.

The elves discussed that even though the Na’vi did not have magic like the ones in their world, their spirit, and the guidance of their goddess, named Eywa, which was some sort of mother tree, was an advanced spirit. Based on the elves' discussion, they seemed to have a similar tree in their community.

Anton was just amazed at how deep the forest elves' discussion had gotten regarding the lives of the Na’vi. How similar but more primitive it was to their lives inside the forest. They deeply admired the unrelenting spirit of the Na’vi regarding defending their forest from the invaders who wanted the resources located under their mother tree.

Just like the Na’vi, the elves did not understand the value of the “Unobtanium”. Anton reiterated that everything about the film was fictional, but the elves just ignored him. After lunch, everyone prepared themselves first before watching the second film in the franchise.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

While everyone was making sure that they would not be interrupted, like going to the bathroom first, and some such thing, one of the elves whispered to Anton that they did understand that the movie was not real and that their discussion was just a form of entertainment, so he did not have to worry too much.

If Anton was being honest, he did worry a little, but after what one of the elves said to him, he instead felt a little foolish.

Before the start of the second film, the forest elves turned to Anton to tell him that they appreciated that he was willing to share the magic of movies with them. To fulfill his familial obligation, Anton advertised the family cinema to the elves.

“You mean your customers can watch different movies like Avatar every month?” One of the elves exclaimed, and Anton simply nodded.

“Our cinema showed different genres, though. Avatar’s genre is called a Science Fiction film. We also have fantasy films that were about magic and magic users. There’s romance, horror, and animation,” Anton told the elves.

When one of the elves asked what animations were, one of Terun’s kids, who was listening in to the conversation, actually inserted himself into the discussion and described the animated film that he had seen together with his family, which was Lilo and Stitch.

Soon, everyone was ready to watch the second film, so without further ado, Anton showed the second film in the franchise.

During the film watching, Anton was not actually watching the film since he had seen them several times already. His concentration and the focus of his vlog were on the forest elves and the brownies. Thankfully, his globe of browser sharing had the ability to turn invisible, so no one noticed that he was recording the audience.

Anton felt like he was watching the film through the eyes of the audience. He now understood why reaction videos from that famous video streaming website were extremely popular.

He was truly entertained watching the audience. Their reaction was pure. They did not hesitate to show their emotion in their faces. Anton understood that normally, all of the audience members’ attention would be on the movie, not on the audience.

The forest elves and the brownies would not hesitate to cry during the scenes that affected them. One good example was when Neytiri was stopped from killing Jake Sully by one of Eywa’s seeds. Some of the elves and the brownie folks cried on that, which surprised Anton, since he thought that the scene was not something that would touch the emotions of anyone that deeply, but apparently, he was mistaken because it did affect some of the elves and the brownies deeply for some reason.

Anton could understand why everyone’s eyes grew wide when they saw the depiction of spaceships that travel through space from Earth to Pandora. It was a scene that could awaken the sense of adventure in anyone who had the longing to see the world. The fact that there were worlds aside from their own world was something that would tickle anyone’s imagination.

The beautiful underwater scenes were magnificent, and everyone, even those who had seen the film already, had their breath taken away due to the sheer beauty of the movie’s depictions of the world underwater.

When the movie ended, food was brought in again. While everyone was eating, Anton boasted the fact that he also explored some parts of the ocean near New Drennor and had met three sea elves.

The elves asked how he did it, and Anton described to them how he achieved his underwater exploration. They realized that when a mage becomes high-level enough, they, too, would have the capability to explore the deep sea. Anton then knew that more than likely, some of the elves would try to achieve the same thing.

During the break, Anton gave a detailed description of what he had seen under the sea, and everyone was fascinated. They admire the fact that Anton did not kill any creature when he was exploring the sea, since there was really no need for him to do so. He told them that he carried the same attitude while traveling through the forest. That was also the reason why the Pixies and the Earth Elementals did not bother with him. He smelled like an herbivore.
