Good morning everyone,
I wanted to tell you all the good news. Mango Media has graciously decided to pick up this series for publication.
Which means, we need more chapters! Meaning Book 2 is officially on!
No release date yet, no covers to show of, yet. But I do have that good news to share.
I am really excited about this, as this is my first attempt at an Otome, which to me is a microcosm of the human condition. (Sorry I needed more words to meet the minimum number of words required for a chapter, and felt this was a good enough excuse to finally divulge some of my own personal thoughts on why these types of series in particular are amazing).
Lykanthropy's Theory on why Otomes are the best: Otomes at their heart are stories of improving yourself first and then forcing the world to love the real you.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
How we get there: An Otome series, if done right, is shown through an off character. That is not the original intended Male Lead or Female Lead, and often a character drawn to a magical world filled with love, that the new main character (NMC) knows is not meant for them. And therefore they have to work twice as hard at improving themselves to carve out a space in the world, where they will inevitably draw the attention of the world in profound and unintended ways. In no other genre can we innately expect this direct correlation of improving yourself first, leading to others seeing your truth value/worth, in the way Otome series offers. Where at the end you improved yourself not because others were watching, but because it was the exact opposite, you knew they wouldn't watch unless you changed for the better. Then when they stop and do pay attention, it all seems worth it.
And that is why I secretly, not so secretly now, love Otomes: the idea that you can and will find true love, but only after you improve yourself first, and thereby make yourself worthy of that love in the first place.
With that, I have met my word requirement and hopefully shared some of why I think these series are important, if done correctly.
Thank you all, and I look forward to releasing more chapters in the not so distant future.
