Chapter 31
As Theo and his group got deeper into the city, they could hear fighting off in the distance. As they got to an intersection, five men from all directions came out and surrounded them and started attacking them all individually. Theo was separated from the group as well, drawing his short sword. He faced a man in leather armor. In his right hand was a flaming sword. The spell sword examined Theo and smirked, then charged Theo. They started a rapid exchange of blades back and forth. Theo felt the heat from the magical blade; his Lesser Fire Immunity was hindering the heat from the magical flame he would have felt without it. The spell sword thrust at Theo with a horizontal strike. Theo met the blade with a perry. Theo did a lunge towards the spell sword. The spell sword dodged by twirling his body to the left, avoiding the lunge. In retaliation, the spell sword went for Theo’s left thigh. Theo was overcommitted to the lunge. The blade sank deep and burned, cauterizing the wound. Theo gritted his teeth as he smelled his burnt flesh. He channeled a Healing Touch on the wound. It took longer since the wound was cauterized. They continued their back-and-forth, and both had pretty good footwork, making it look like a choreographed dance as the fight continued. After a minute, the spell sword had an opening in his defense, and Theo took advantage of the mistake that the spell sword made. When Theo committed to the attack, the spell sword smirked. The spell sword flicked his blade up and sliced off a portion of Theo’s right cheek. His Bloodline kicked in. He felt the pain for a second, then it was just a dull throb in the back of his head. Blood started to pour out of the side of his mouth; his back teeth were exposed to the air along with the remains of tattered muscle and skin. The fire magic also ruined the helmet that he was wearing. The spell sword had a big shit-eating grin. Theo ripped away the helmet with his left hand. Theo channeled Healing Touch. The smile on the spell sword face vanished in horror, replaced by a frown. In moments, the blood from the wound stopped, and the muscle and skin started to regrow at a visible rate.
“Let’s just do this fight with healing and sword skills,” Theo thought.
At the same time, the spell sword said
“You’re a fucking healer who knows combat, you’re going to be a bitch to take down,”
This time, Theo gave the spell sword a shit eating grin.
In response, the spell sword shrugged his shoulders and resumed the assault on Theo, ramping up the flames on his sword. As they met, their swords clashed. Theo met every blow with one of his own as they danced back and forth, their swords meeting each time. Theo was getting cut and burned, but he was also leaving minor cuts and several large slashes on the spell sword, and while he was striking and defending, he was using Healing Touch on himself at the same time, keeping up with the spell sword. Thinking of a way to break the stalemate, Theo came up with a hell Mary strategy. Theo shot off a Target Healing with his left hand to his opponent, causing the spell sword to hesitate for a moment. The man’s eyes were wide open in shock as his body started to heal from the multiple wounds that Theo gave him in that moment. Theo was able to chop off his right hand that held his sword, then his head. Theo helped Joe take out his opponent by feinting at the head and distracting him. Joe took advantage of the distraction and knocked the man down with an Empowered Blow to the guy's heart. Then Theo and Joe helped the other three subdue their opponents, returned to the entrance, and dropped them off. From there, they went deeper into the town.
Theo saw that there were quite a few wounded people who were coming and going from the town hall.
“Hey, Blake, do you mind if we help these people?” Theo asked
“Not at all, work your magic,” Blake said with a smile.
Theo’s first patient looked like he was a 40s black man who had lacerations across his face and upper torso, fairly deep. Theo expended some mana, using the spell Clean, then using Healing Touch to heal the guy. Didn’t take long; the next patient was a woman of Asian descent missing a leg. The leg was not present. Theo touched her upper thigh and used the spell Healing Touch to see if he could regrow the tissue, muscle, and bone, but to no avail, telling the woman the best he could do was to heal the stump. The woman sobbed but nodded in understanding. Theo got started by using the Clean spell, sealed the stump with Healing Touch, and used Healers' Intuition to see if anything else was wrong with her. She was all good to go. Then Theo went to the next patient, a teenage Caucasian boy with multiple arrows protruding from his body, using Healer’s Intuition to see if there was anything else wrong with him. Nope, just the arrows that were in him, using clean to clean the foreign objects and the wounds.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“Okay, on the count of three, I am going to take the arrow out and then heal the wound. The boy nodded, then gritted his teeth.
“One, two, three,” Theo said.
On three, he took out the first arrow, then healed the open wound. The boy was screaming as the arrows came out, as they didn’t have any form of anesthesia to relieve all the pain he was in. The next one was an unconscious Caucasian woman. Theo used Healer's Intuition. She had multiple broken bones and fractures across her body. Theo could also see that most of her organs were bruised in her torso, but on the bright side, she was stable, still breathing, not normal, but not wheezing either, more of a gasp. Theo used a Healing Touch on her lungs and the rest of her organs, but she was still gasping. Theo still had Healer's Intuition running and rechecked her lungs, and could not see anything wrong that explains her gasping state, working on the broken bones, and then the swelling and the bruising. After it was all said and done, she was still gasping for air, getting Georgia’s attention.
“Can you get someone to send for another healer who actually has medical knowledge? I have no idea what’s wrong with her lungs, causing her to gasp, as Theo said
George nodded and went off. Theo focused on other patients until, a couple of minutes later, someone in white robes and a Red Cross armband approached him.
“My name is Robin. What seems to be the problem?” Robin said
“She’s gasping. After I healed her. I have no medical background. Healer's Intuition says she’s fine. Still, she’s clearly not, so I do not know what to do. So I called for someone with medical experience,” Theo said.
First, Robin pulled out a table out of nowhere; she must’ve had a storage device on her. Robin and Theo put the woman on the table facedown, with her head off the table. Then Robin directed Theo to lift her legs, and Robin started smacking her back. The woman began to cough up blood. After that, her breathing evened out. Robin smiled at Theo, then went off to do something else.
As Robin was leaving, she said
“You can keep the table.”
Theo and his group spent the rest of the invasion just healing people. After a few hours, a man approached them.
“We pretty much captured everyone we could. There are a few stragglers left, but can you start creating the ritual?” the man said.
“Yes, where do you want me to put it?" Theo said.
“Follow me,” the man said.
Theo followed the guide to a clearing outside the walls, about 50 yards away. Theo began working on a massive ritual with the paste. The man who led him there was still present, as Blake's party left to do other things. Looking at the man, Theo said, “Could you have multiple people who have a mana base class help me with charging the ritual? I can’t do it alone. You can get them when I’m almost done with the ritual; there is no need for them to wait.” Theo said
The man nodded, and Theo continued to work. When Theo was almost finished with the ritual, the man left. A couple of minutes later, a group of five walked up towards him. They waited until Theo finished the ritual; one spoke up.
“Do we just need to channel mana through the ritual?” The woman said
“Yes,” Theo responded.
The five mages, plus Theo, channeled their magic through the ritual until a dim blue light came from it. Theo noticed, after he was done, that a crowd began to form around the ritual. The ritual itself was a circle that had a radius of 20 yards. The group of six leaders, including the slimeball of a man and Lucy, approached him, thanked him for his service, and politely asked him to leave. Theo left without a fight, not wanting to be in the spotlight anyway. Theo went off and started walking his way through the makeshift camp that was set up outside the walls of the town. He heard wailing coming from a tent. Heading off in the direction where he saw a red cross on the front of the tent, he noticed that there were many people outside waiting to be healed. Theo went inside the tent and found the nearest healer. He told him he was also a healer, and they had him set up in the middle. Theo began to heal for the rest of his time there. After a couple of hours and a few breaks, the numbers finally went down. He also found out that what was going to happen to the dead was that they were all going to be cremated by a big bonfire. Not wanting to stick around for the bonfire, Theo decided to walk back towards the city he had come from, not wanting to deal with the aftermath or anything else that came with it. Theo went to the inn where he was staying before he left for Tim’s town. Theo showered, changed clothes, and slept for the rest of the day. The next day, the first thing Theo did was check his notifications.

After he was done with his morning business and eating, He went to the training hall where Ty was.
“Good morning, Theo! I haven’t seen you in a few days,” Ty said.
“Yeah, I helped out with the brainwashed people,” Theo said.
“Bad business there,” Ty said.
“Yes, it was, but it’s done now, and I’m ready for some training,” Theo said.
“Good to hear on both accounts,” Ty said
