Conrad selected his meal in the dining hall of the airship.
He filled his pte generously.
The food selection was really great, from meat to fish, vegetables to fruits; many types of desserts were pced and served to the applicants.
As it is to be expected, the Hunter Association had no problem in terms of how much money they had and were capable enough to fill the applicant's belly to its limits.
After what the applicants had endured over the st days, most of them attacked the buffet as if afraid it would disappear.
Some ate silently with trembling hands.
Others stared bnkly at their trays, mentally repying near-death moments in the Bck Mist Forest and Wall of Fire.
Most people do not talk about it, but all the events and chaos the applicants have seen until now are enough for ordinary people to go mad from the trauma that he or she encountered.
But of course, this kind of backsh was not that interesting to show in the series if it was not like Knov and his encounter with "En" of "Pouf" that would have a big change in the story.
Conrad sat alone at an empty table near the corner.
Right now, he was almost certain he would pass the Hunter Exam.
He had not been forced into difficult situations yet.
He had avoided unnecessary conflict, especially with dangerous variables like Hisoka.
He took another bite.
"After the Hunter Exam," he thought calmly, "I should focus on combat growth."
His mind immediately shifted toward Heavens Arena.
Reaching Battle Olympia was one of his first goals that he wanted to achieve.
"While fighting in Heavens Arena," he continued internally, "I will work on creating my fifth ability."
He slowed his chewing, visualizing it.
"Simution of individuals, for battle experience purposes."
An ability that would allow him to recreate battle scenarios and create individuals so that he can fight them.
To practice techniques repeatedly without requiring real combat every time.
His eyes narrowed slightly in thought.
"If structured correctly, it will reduce risk and increase growth efficiency."
He nodded faintly to himself.
Yes.
It would be a great ability.
The fact that he knows many nen users and dangerous individuals in the world of Hunter x Hunter is there; with enough conditions and limitations, such things are possible and effective.
But that was only the fifth.
After Battle Olympia, once that ability matured, he would focus on the sixth.
"A teammate system… and grouping system."
Complex abilities required strict limitations and conditions to activate.
"The more complex the structure," he thought, "the greater the potential return."
"Simir to Greed Isnd..."
If he added heavy conditions, distance limitations, emotional bonds, or activation triggers, the output could be monstrous.
All the team members may have increased their power leaps and bounds.
It would be simir to the Morena and Heil-Ly Mafia families but with more of a moral ground.
He took a sip of water.
"High risk, high yield."
Conrad observed them briefly.
"They just want to eat… and rest."
Which was logical.
The third exam alone had broken most of them.
He finished his pte calmly and returned the tray.
There was no need to linger.
He headed toward the open resting room designated for applicants.
The room was spacious, with minimal furniture.
Simple mats lined the floor.
Some applicants were already asleep.
Some sat silently against the walls.
Conrad walked to a corner.
He sat cross-legged, spine straight.
Then slowly leaned back against the wall.
He closed his eyes.
But he did not fully sleep.
Instead, he initiated something far more important.
He recalled the training method taught by Biscuit Krueger to Gon and Killua during Greed Isnd.
Half-awake brain training.
To allow the subconscious to remain alert.
To react to hostility even in rest.
Killua said that his father put him through such training, so he did not have much of a problem mastering it.
But Gon was hit by a stone all the time when he dozed off from time to time due to not being accustomed to such training and ways of sleep.
Conrad slowed his breathing.
He let his consciousness descend gradually.
But he did not let himself fall completely.
"If someone attacks," he thought faintly, "I must wake before contact."
This type of training was inefficient for most people.
But Conrad valued it.
