Kenny took some time to consume the Star Spawn in his land before his carriage form took him and Alexandra to the city.
“Kenny!” The guard on the left said. “Is that you? Where did you find that carriage? Or is a part of your body like that wolf?”
“It’s part of me.” Kenny said through the wolf.
“Are you trying to make a military tank out of yourself?” Said the guard on the right.
“Of course I am, Jeff.” Kenny said, rolling all seven of the wolf’s eyes. “We’re in a war of extinction, and I don’t plan on dying to any shadowborne Star Spawn.”
“We also have the harvest from his farm.” Alexandra said as she leaned out the window.
The guards hummed as they parted ways to allow Kenny and Alexandra into the city. The citizens were quick to get out of Kenny’s way and gently waved their passage. Kenny made the executive decision to drop off his harvested foodstuffs first, thus he guided the carriage to the warehouses which were thankfully priorized in defense and were mostly intact.
“Jerry!” Kenny said through the wolf, “You’re still alive!”
Jerry, one of the guards of the district, leaped a foot in the air and turned around the see Kenny’s current form. He placed a hand on his chest and half hearted glared at Kenny.
“Oh, of course.” Jerry said. “Sebastian never told me who got upgraded into the Paladin, but it would only be you and your dickery that would be blessed in such a manner.”
Kenny rolled all seven of the wolf’s eyes before he grew a duplicate of his human body from the wolf’s back, arms outstretched to the sides.
“When have I ever done you wrong?” Kenny said as the back of the carriage opened to reveal his cargo.
Several crates were made out of brown chitin that had hinges on the top to allow others inside. Most of them were corn, while one had netting inside to protect the fruits. Several tendrils grew from the carriage and carefully moved the crates inside of the warehouse while Kenny was listing each of the crates’ contents to Jerry who was updating the ledger.
“Right, thanks for the shipment.” Jerry said.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Kenny merely waved goodbye and dissolved his human body into the wolf. He pulled the carriage back to the main road.
“Wait, how are we going to replace the asphalt?” Kenny muttered.
“I think we’re just gonna go back to cobble streets again.” Alexandra said. “If we don’t find a way to make more via a different process.”
The wolf took the carriage to the outskirts of the city and began the trek through the fields of corpses that had dominated the nearby landscape. The carriage eventually arrived at a massive steel fence that surrounded a grazing area.
Kenny led them to a gatehouse where they met with a brown haired man.
“Howdy!” The rancher said. “Welcome to Bonbon Ranch!”
Alexandra leaned out of the carriage to wave at the rancher.
“Nice to see you’re still kicking, Randy!” Alexandra said.
Randy rubbed his head while one of his subordinates opened the door to let in the carriage.
Randy led them to the bovine enclosure, which prompted Kenny to grow a human body from the wolf’s back and reached over to rub his hands against the beast.
Small bundles of Threads were inserted into the animal, some of them collected fur samples, some of them were collecting surface level tissue samples, the rest were used to create biopsies of the various organs.
Then Kenny leaned back and dissolved the human body. In its place Kenny grew a set of lever action rifles that were equipped with bayonets.
“These are just a prototype gun but they should be able to shoot the basic Qi Pulse for thirty times before they need to swap magazines.” Kenny explained through the wolf. “Use the bayonet on recently dead Star Spawn to convert the enemy into Qi. Which will be used to generate some cube shaped tallow candles and refill the attached magazines.”
Randy and his men nodded as they took the offered weapons.
“I am going to speak with Serenity and the Mayoress to see if I can make a remote controlled army out of the Star Spawn.” Kenny said as he pulled the carriage away from the bovine pen.
“Remote controlled? Like with a headset?” Randy asked. “Might be fun to run as that wolf thing.”
“Indeed it is fun.” Kenny said. “Even if it’s weird to pull most of my body in the form of the carriage.”
Randy and his men coughed at the thought.
“I thought that you had found a carriage to modify.” Randy said.
Kenny then turned the canine skull on top of the carriage to look at the man and spoke through it.
“So what did you think this skull was?” Kenny said.
“Decoration!” Randy yelped at the moving skull.
“Understandable.” Kenny said as he walked out of the gatehouse. “If I do get permission to make my own remote control army, I’ll make a tower or something between my farm and the city.”
Kenny waved goodbye with the wolf’s tail.
